I put in my 2 weeks at my awful, mind-withering, joint-smashing, boring as fuck, depressing, piece of shit, 12-hour-days, useless management, still-a-temp-worker-after-15-months-because-yay-cheap-labor, earning $10 less while working harder than full time employees who never face any ramifications for being fucking terrible at their job, factory job.

And got a city job...as a cemetery groundskeeper
It's not a glorious or even well-paying job but it's gonna be a fuck of a lot better, no doubt. And maybe I can eventually move somewhere else within the city jobs. Or at least I could take vocational classes at night.

I wonder what their policy is regarding employee Halloween attire...

I'm so happy for you. Been reading your posts for years now, and your work was clearly weighing on you! Congratulations!
I uh... I feel like I would REALLY enjoy being a cemetery groundskeeper. Jealous.

If the city labor jobs in your city are anything like in my city, they might give you trade training and certification. My friend got his plumbing, carpentry, and electrical certifocations all free through the city.

So...got some good news recently after having a generally crappy summer. Found out in May that I had prostate cancer. Super high PSA test (14!!), but no other symptoms--I was lucky it was found because my doc wasn't even going to order the test for another 5 years or so. Had surgery, recovered pretty much from that--good news was that they don't think it spread--lymph nodes / other stuff was negative, bone scan was negative.

Got my first post-op psa and it was 'undetectable' PHEW. Pretty happy about all that. Going to keep monitoring and keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

Been feeling strangely optimistic all day, and it paid off. Someone bought my amp. I can get the utilities turned back on and get my court costs handled with and still have enough for groceries. I'm not at a great point of life, but it's kinda nice to be happy with such a simple state of life.

I've been and he's honestly such a nice guy. We talked about music for like 3 hours. It was super dead the second time I went so he let me play records from his collection.

I'm not big on talking to people I don't know or pushing for conversation but everyone at his bar was super chatty and fun (especially for Japan).

Nothing quite as amazing as beating cancer (kudos @aedes), but I snagged one of those little Rucci 8 bit pocket synths and when it arrived yesterday it caught the ears of my kids (6 and 8 yr olds) and they were really into it and both loved droning out and twisting knobs to make their own music. Really exciting to see them be as excited about being creative in that way as I am...it was a great bonding experience and very powerful breakthrough for them to be able to control the sound in a way that pleased them since guitars you can’t just pick up and make em sound good.
