There is a regular who comes into the bar I work at, I've been worried since he's not been coming into the bar for the past month, he's in his 60s so I was worried he got COVID, turns out his mom did, and he's been hanging out in the parking lot of the hospital every day when he'd usually come into the bar to hear about his mom (in her late 80s/early 90s) from a nurse friend of mine who made a point to let him know how she is doing every night they worked before they went home. She already had some prior health complications, but she managed to pull through, she's going to be able to go back to regular home care next week. It's a small victory, but I'm happy there are some folks who are managing to recover from this and that health care professionals are still making a point to let people know how their loved ones are doing even with much needed restrictions and their horrendously packed schedules.

That is nice to hear for a change! Glad she pulled through, most of the deaths I know of personally back home are from elders.

I'm so glad that summer is over. I have energy and motivation again. I don't just wanna lay in bed all day. Summer can fuck off and never return.

But ... I like summer ... :erm:  I have no real energy in summer, either. I love that season, but my creativeness always comes back in late September if the summer is long and hot.

Its weird, the world is so fucked but you could argue 2020 has been a great year so far. Got lots of new gear, coming up on my first wedding anniversary, bands first single hit 10K plays on Spotify. I've never been so stressed and so happy all at once. Perfect balance I guess.

We have a show tonight. Considering the current times it's gonna be the only one of 2020, so I'm happy.

One of my big stresses over the years has been a lack of money, partly through choices I made and partly due to circumstances beyond my control.

The worry over money has led to some poor choices in terms of taking on work now and again, which has caused me quite a bit of stress too :)

However, because of the loss of my Mum back in 2014 I was able to pay off most of my mortgage, and having lost my Dad last year I will soon be able to clear up some credit card debt that's been hanging around for years and be completely debt-free for the first time in a long time :)

This morning I turned away a job I'm sure would have been potentially very annoying (lacquer repair) and, because my youngest daughter's Mum has (yet again) messed around with the time we spend together over the weekend, I've taken the decision to change my opening hours from 10am to 7pm Mon to Fri (I used to be available on Saturday afternoons too, but dropped that during the lock down) to just Mon to Thurs.

If I was careful I could probably retire altogether when the money comes through, but I've considered doing that in five years time (or maybe three years as then I would have been in business for 20 years, which seems a nice round number). Cutting my hours seems like a nice way to start, although I did that a long time ago as I rarely do anything like a full day's work now :)

My next step will probably be to get rid of my Facebook page and then later, my website, so I can cut back on new customers and just deal with people I already know plus anyone they might recommend. I still get customers passed on from local guitar shops but I won't cut them off until I close altogether as they've been good to me over the years.

Whilst it's a sign of my getting old - I've always been a lazy so and so, so spending days and days doing nothing doesn't cause me any alarm ;)

Really enjoying fucking around with the Mustang bass but it's so weird to go back and forth between bass strings and guitar. They feel like nothing.

Lots of reasons to feel a little chirpier today.

Picking up my daughter later, for more fun and games over the weekend.

Crown Tundra has turned up a week earlier than expected, which will entertain both of us.

My new SD card arrived - 32gb instead of 4gb so I'll be able to record loads on it before I need to empty it.

Only one mildly grey cloud, my laptop is still not working despite replacing the battery and the power jack (the power supply seems ok, according to my mulitmeter), so I need to do some research as to what else might be wrong.

I applied to a parks job in New Orleans on a lark a few months ago, I like working outside and the pay was great so why not? I hadn't heard anything so I shifted my plans, I've been working three jobs (which suuuuucks) trying to get some money together so I can finally leave my hometown for more than a year, the plan was to just move to a new city and try to find a job when I got there since that seems easier. Well guess who just got a call from the park director! I expected a HR John Doe rejection email or something, but a call from the director himself wanting to talk more about my experience and training has me cautiously optimistic, especially when he said, "I'll be back in touch soon." It's been a difficult few months but even getting the call seems like a win to me right now.

I live outside of Knoxville, and I'm honestly kinda tired of going over there after 5 years, I still love seeing Marie from Maries, hanging out at Urban or Pilot Light, but I'm kinda burnt out on it at the same time. Nashville is godawful expensive. Memphis is cool, I loved living in Orange Mound, lots of great folks. But overall, I haven't lived outside of my home state the past 5 years and I'm just kinda getting that itch. Fact that my mom and my youngest brother are moving back down here into my house since my mom lost her job (she found a new one in Knoxville) is only spurring that itch haha.
