i got laid off on friday from my job due to "company shrinkage". filed for unemployment today. the online benefits estimator informed me that i should qualify for a whopping $128/week. what the fuck? i've been working an $18/hour full time construction job and i only qualify for $128? how is that even supposed to be remotely helpful? i thought the point of unemployment insurance was to make sure you weren't completely screwed if something like this happens, but apparently the purpose is just to mock you when you're down.

If I knew my family would be financially solvent without me, I would kill myself.

You've been trying really hard, bro. Keep trying. They need you for so much more than your money.

I'm just exhausted. I don't feel like I have anything left.

So as I was getting ready for work I realized I had absolutely no clean clothes except for running shorts and a cut up tee that I use for the gym. Today was the last day for our high school interns and I think it could be analogous to every girl's first time seeing David Bowie in The Labyrinth.
I got sent home early.

There are two types of irritating behavior concerning gear discussions that have pushed me to leave other online communities. The first is the completely unnecessary chiming in. If you see a post about something you don't use, why comment to say so? If people are talking about preferred tremolo systems, don't come in and say "I think tremolos are pointless." If the topic is "What is your favorite effect?" it is almost assured that at least one person will pop their head in to say they go straight from their guitar to the amp like that is an achievement. When the conversation is not in your wheelhouse, stay out of it instead of using it as a chance to feel better about yourself.
Number two is the cheapskate populism. If you can't afford better or don't care to buy better, that's fine. When someone who would never buy a Boss VB-2 rants about how a Behringer is exactly the same thing, I'm filled with rage. I think it is safe to say there is value to be had in some cheap stuff, it gets taken too far by some.
I think a lot of it is narcissism and jealousy. I don't know if there is an emotion I understand less than jealousy. I'm sleep deprived and ranting.
