The stuff that caught my imagination and will capture my dollars this year are definitely the Red Panda Bitmap v2 and also the Bananana Tararira. I already have a Beebo so gonna update that bugger to the 3.0 software tonight! Really excited they merged Digit & Beebo. I just hope that the introduction of the euro version (Hector) doesn’t mean that Beebo dev takes a backseat. I know it’s shared architecture but still...

I would’ve thought we would see more new craziness since the pandemic gave folks a chance to sit in one spot for a long time...but I guess balance that with figuring out how to work like this and dealing w supply chain issues is why things are a little quiet? My wallet appreciates that my GAS list hasn’t doubled.

This whole trend of using a still image with a human face mugging with product to convince
people to click on YouTube gear videos is a phenomenon that deserves a punch in the face.

It's like the worst cliches of silent movie pantomime over-acting.
There's a reason that no one likes mimes.

The whole trend of seeing the reviewer at all needs to go away.

None of these people are reviewers. They are contracted pitch men.

They are consumption avatars. We're supposed to identify with them while Google analytics identifies our desire lines.

fortunately, all this increasingly mannered presentation has a chilling effect for me, but it's only a matter of time before the marketers make a correction and my weak underbelly is exposed

There is something too this - for example I am turned off by most of the dark glass / ding wall stuff ( I own and use the element) you don’t have to blow that much smoke up my ass to get me to like the product and at the end on the day most of this shit is not that ground breaking.

Holy shit I agree, and this is from someone who owns and uses a Microtubes X Ultra as their bass amp. It even hurts them in the long term as their own demos are so entrenched in the progdaddy niche that they never show any variation to their pedal's tones.

Whenever I see those shitty clickbait faces in my YT suggested vids, I usually just click "do not suggest channel." I don't get the reasoning behind those covers — absolute opposite intended effect in my case.
