Turns out he didn't. That's an error on the album cover.

One of the tracks on the previous page inspired me to put a bunch of Andrew Hill discs on hold at the library. Currently digging this one, which has a pretty impressive crew:
Oooh, hadn't heard that one. Larry's was before my time — legendary punk scuzzhole, now the site of a dog park. (I do have the recordings of Sun Ra at the Horseshoe in '78... that's still open, so though the layout is different I can build a mental picture of it.)
The Arkestra is coming to town this summer, but it looks likely I won't be able to make it, sadly.

More Jasper Stadhouders content! I asked him to put something together for my monthly music series, and he invited Lori Freedman (clarinet/bass clarinet) + Allison Cameron (no-input mixer)... pretty high-powered stuff!
The night's other set was jazz-adjacent maybe in a Hassell/dub kinda way? I'll tuck it in below, unveil if trumpet/effects/melodica/synth sounds like a good time to you:
i've watched several John Stowell vids on YouTube over the years and never felt moved to check out his recordings, but for whatever reason this morning was different, and i gotta say i appreciated the edge on this one over the more ultra-clean fractally meditative stuff i remember hearing:

Unknown name to me, but good stuff, and yeah, on the right side of "tasteful".
