I haven't been skating much in the last 3-4 weeks. Not one good session where I stopped when I wanted to. It has not stopped raining and my hip destroying landings finally caught up with me and I couldn't even push comfortably for two weeks. Couple chiro visits have helped and the pain is now gone but it's still raining every fucking day or so.
Basically a couple pages back I was saying I had trouble getting used to my heavier wider board and it's like this post triggered an Armageddon of things that prevented me from skating since then. I still struggle to get a more controlled, harder pop on that board but I'll eventually get it back it's just super frustrating to have this fresh setup just begging to beat me up a little.
I can basically go ride around the block if it's not too wet but good weather hasn't coincided with the time to skate at all lately so I practice powerslide 180s and switch riding when I go push around and that's about it.
In the meantime I'm building a foldable/adjustable kicker ramp in the garage to psych myself but winter is coming too, so it looks like I'll be scouting underground parkings for the first time in many, many years.
That all sounds shit. I'm sure you'll get through it though!
I am also concerned about the oncoming winter. I like in a very rainy area too and while recently I've been lucky enough to get a couple of dry days to skate every week that is by no means guaranteed.

Ps.i've found my old board, in terrible condition, but it still exists
Oh shit totally missed that post, do you have any pictures of your old board? I would love to see that setup

Eastern Canada gets lots of rain in the fall, but this year it's really a bummer right now, but yeah, a UK skater will definitely know about rainy days. Ever skated in underground car parks during winter/rain? Had a few good spots back in the day. You get kicked out sometimes so you go to the next.
The fun thing at the moment is bombing hills through all the fallen leaves on the ground like a god damn Forza cover art. It helps to cope
I never have! I'm from a small town which had no underground... anythings. haha. There is likely to be something or other within driving/cycling distance of me now in a bigger town though.
Yes the one nice thing about all the leaves and rain is infinite powerslides.
Also, I went on the googles to see what other parks are near me (for the increasingly rare dry days). And there's a couple of free concrete ones within a cycle/drivable radius that look cool! One even has a bowl and I've never skated a bowl before at all (I said I come from a small town haha).
There's also a couple of really good looking ones that charge for entry, and I'll definitely check em out soon but want to practice more first so it's more worth it. Particular the fully indoors one once winter really gets going lol.

I have been skating in an old pair of vans and I love the feel but I've worn a hole through the upper where I ollie and scratched the hell out of my foot already within a week (ow). I want relatively minimalist shoes, not the insane giant things of yore, but that are still tough enough to really take a beating.
If you like Vans, i picked up a pair of Rowans and Ave’s on sales...both are the best skate shoes ive ever had for different reasons. The Ave’s are what i wish all cupsoles were, so responsive and lots of board feel but cupsole construction and stability and flick is amazing on it.
Good to know thanks!! I have been taking a long break from skating due to shitty weather (and lately, let's be honest, some laziness) but excited to hop back in and defs need the new shoes. Will look at those
My thoughts exactly. Clearly lives somewhere else but hey he has an acre, there's room for some more buildings!
Went skating today and only kids/parents at my local spot (which yes is very much a kids spot). I really need to start venturing out to parks where adults skate, except then they'll intimidate me by being good
