Fame can certainly make you a dick, but I do feel like deep down, you have to have that in you already. Dude definitely went through some rough shit back when he was younger ( part of the reason why i relate so much to the material ), but that doesn't automatically give you an asshole pass.

Ideally, you learn, you talk about your problems and deal with it the right way instead of taking what you've suffered through out on the world. Thats the thing with Billy. I don't believe he ever stopped having that ship on his shoulder.

Its sad, he could be so much more of a role model. He could be the guy that rose above his struggles completely, made something of himself, and became a shining example of what it means to be famous and still be a good person. But instead we have the podcast rants, the transphobic remarks, and the negative fan interactions.

I dont see a man who rose above the bullshit, I see a man who never stopped carrying it on his back.

I hope I don't ever end up that way.

I totally understand the revised feelings. I view Thurston Moore differently for the circumstances that led to his divorce and breakup of Sonic Youth. I have a real hard time listening to Nirvana now, knowing what I knew as a fan when I was young and looking back at things after becoming the man I am today makes it hard to respect. Both were huge influences on me in the 90s. Time moves on and so do I.

i found this thread because of xrleroyx's sig

preface:
pumpkins were my favorite band growing up... the same time i started playing. my first concert was MCIS tour in saginaw, MI 2 weeks before Melvoin OD'd... played like 3 1/2 hours or 4 hours, something insane. 3 encores including the 2nd encore a 35 minute silverfuck. there's the old saying about 'never meet your heroes' or something
Ghost Hip wrote:This thread wasn't as difficult to read as I feared it to be, but maybe I am just getting older. That Kim Thayil story... I have read two of Billy's quotes from that out of context, and they seemed funny but now that I know the context, jesus he was a big baby during siamese dream.
so they broke up (for real this time) in 2000 or 2001

you guys might remember the residencies they did, after they "reformed" with the new guitarist (linus) and bass player (sexy chick)
first one was in orange peel (asheville), 2nd was in san fran somewhere. both were about a week long

i somehow managed to get a couple tickets for asheville, they sold out in under 60 seconds for all the dates. they were $25 each and were going on ebay for up to $500 each. people were really psyched about that SP reunion.

the important part, that is the reason for my post, is that about an hour or so into the show, billy got upset because people in the back of the orange peel were talking during one of their quiet-ish, boring, lame, shitty new songs, so he basically threatened to stop the show. and by "basically threatened" i mean that he said... well i can't remember exactly, but it was something like

"blah blah blah, you guys can come with us and go over here [points to the right] or we will go over there [points to the left]" which is where there was a nearby wall with a big window and i think their hotel was somewhere around ther? i dunno man it's been like 12 years or something. you get my drift? the dude is still a fucking baby. whenever someone asks me about billy corgan or that show i tell them he is a 50 year old manbaby. i have been saying that for years. so if there's an idea that he's changed since SD or whenever that ain't it.

oh and the people in the back just kept on talking and billy didn't do jack shit

anyway i hope that story made sense

we sat outside for like 6 hours and got in pretty close to center stage in the 2nd row of bodies

get it?

the set was pretty awesome, i couldn't believe they played starla. they slayed that. played just about everything you could ask for. plus a bunch of lame shit because they were using the residencies to try out shit billy was writing in his hotel room

He’s getting a reality TV show. About his job as the president of a pro wrestling association. https://www.brooklynvegan.com/smashing- ... lity-show/

This better throw off something as good as the rollercoaster memes.

I see Corgan getting some traction on social media lately. Still seems like he takes himself serious in a super annoying way. I guess he hangs out with Rogan?

I've never bean able 2 shake when he responded to some 90's criticisms to Soundgarden? Bernie Geldof? Slappy White? with
You hurt me. You hurt me deeply in my heart.
It was Kim Thayil, now that I think about it.

Anyways, Billy cheeps on chuggin, somehow? While in practice I mite respect that, but in reality, I just change th' channel :::clickergif:::
