The reason that it's not there as standard is that the values used are the vintage correct ones. Also, theoretically you might lose some definition and 'bite' from the sound. Since there seems to be lots of support for a Perc with more bass, do you think I should add the bass mod on the Fredric site - like a drop-down option?
As I said, it's the best mod I've seen for percolators.. just throw it on a DPDT toggle and boom, vintage up, double down. I went with more than double for the output cap on D rocks suggestion, but I tried a few.
Adding a toggle makes nerds happy
This sounds like the kind of tweak that would be great with a pot to dial it in just *so*
I do build mine with input cap on a pot. Not necessary but I love to overdrive the circuit with too much bass(more than most would want on a toggle). I'm working on doing a very small run of my 5 knob version. Bias control, Voltage starve, Added gain control and Doom(Bass) control as well. I have basically "fuzz factoried" this circuit. I have had a bit of oscillation at extreme settings that I have dialed it out to make it pedalboard friendly. Going to go in a 1590xx enclosure because I like big pedals and you should too.
One of my prototypes is there in the middle. I do need to get access to a strong laser engraver or cnc maschine to add labels for knobs but they are coming along nicely otherwise.
The latest Cafetiere with additional controls would likely be able to cover all territory from boost to full-on fuzz. The level of compression is significant, though textural nuances are still possible via alternate picking techniques, switching pickups, adjustment of volume and tone, etc. I have the final vero board rendition of the original model and have no intention of letting it go unless I upgrade to the latest version.
Thanks! v.3 certainly looks like a sweet layout, and I like the starved tones on display in the one demo vid I have found. I need to check out demos of the earlier versions to get a sense of the "core" sound I guess....

I never thought I would be the kind of guy to collect different versions of a circuit but goddamn if this thread isn't making me want every single percolator out there.
Also someone please make a twin peaks themed perc and call it
