they're also the only manufacturer whose bass heads i've played through, though that was my bass player's SVT for shits and giggles. made me sound exactly like the 1969 Rolling Stones tour that started in College Station, TX and ended at Altamont.

Which is why a LOT of bass players go towards the tube Ampeg heads ( B12, SVT, ect) - the S.S stuff is exactly what you you think it sounds like - good sold responsive cleans. I wouldn't call it a super high fi sound but if I had to pick between everything on the list I am going for a B2R all day long.

just ordered a B2R off Reverb for $215. i was planning on waiting, but that's a good price. even with spendy shipping it's still $278. thanks for the recommendation...when i compared them the B2R is much more tweakable than the SS Portaflex which runs in the same price range.

i was looking for an empty 15" cabinet for the Hartke aluminum speaker i've been watching on Reverb and came across a deal too good to pass up: a 70s Unicord UB250 1x15" cabinet with the stock CTS speaker (assumedly...all photos of these i found online had speakers with the same hole in the middle of the dome) on Musicians Friend for $120. i'd just looked at an empty one on Guitar Center for $159. well, then. if the stock speaker works then i'll have gotten a functional bass rig together for $438 including tax and shipping. if i don't like it the Hartke is another $135. and that 70s cabinet is bound to be bulletproof. i can hardly believe it all just happened like that.

I guess I'm late to the recommendation party. I'm team Phil Jones Bass...it can handle anything, not just bass and is incredible for taking pedals. That said if you are looking for something with flavor, like SVTs, then PJB aint it. It will take preamps like a champ though. He makes a 200 watt head the BP200 which I've seen for as low as $200 shipped...plus it's SUPER portable.

but you made your choice so enjoy! You did a-okay!

i think this should be fine. i specifically wasn't looking for tube bass amp tone, but rather for a relatively neutral sound that will handle the variety of effects sounds it'll have thrown at it when i use it to biamp my loops. if Guitar Center and Musicians Friend will just get the stuff into the post, it'll be peachy. i ordered 3-foot and 25-foot speaker cables; i'll use the long one when i biamp so i can keep the amp heads next to me. it's made by Orange, and fittingly enough is bright orange which i figure will be handy when i'm running cable to two different cabinets and have to tell them apart. i'm curious to see if i like the stock strings on the Squier Mustang bass any better through a bass amp; i hated them through the guitar amps.

Guys, I got an all aluminum EGC guitar today and it is really awesome. I don’t think my Dingwalls are in any danger but my other guitars may be starting to get a little nervous.

I got banned from TB so long ago I don't even remember when it was...and now I've been banned from discord. The irony being both times it was because I got too mad that someone had crappy behavior during doing a deal. Ooops.

I'll say that since getting a Frank Brothers guitar earlier in the year, my basses are all in danger. That guitar just dominates my music time.

Which model Frank Bros did you get? The Arcade looks cool.
