Kind of stoked- my old band, which started as a 2piece in 2001 pretty much broke up in the spring of 2013 after having morphed at first into a trio and finally into a 4 piece band. I'm about to go jam with the original drummer (who became the other guitar player as the band grew... long fucking convoluted story, I know) and see if we want to get the 2 piece thing going again. Should be fun at least

I'd love to be in a two piece. I'm not a strong enough riff writer to be the sole writer. A can collaborate and/or pump out bass riffs all day but I'm sporadic with main riff material. Probably comes from being out of music for so long.

Hell Yeah! I hope you guys get it going. Not seeing that is one of the things that I feel is a life failure for not getting into local music sooner.
I also know this weirdo with a doubleneck that would love to have a project it could see use in.

Timm Grimm wrote:Saw a awesome show last night. It was the Trve brewing 2nd anniversary in Denver. Honestly the whole lineup was badass. Bongripper and In the Company of Serpents were fucking awesome. I expected a great show, but this was beyond what I expected. Each band was awesome. There was no lulls from one to the next. Each one picked up right where the other left off. Call of the void was a total surprise. They really reminded me of the level and intensity I'd get from soilent green the many times I've seen them.(not that their music was that similar, just the feeling.) Stoic dissention played some awesome, slightly atmospheric black metal. Want out of place at all. Really enjoyed it.
Bongripper fucking killed it. The whole set was exactly what I would have hoped they would play from start to finish. ( I'm from Louisiana. I say y'all.)
In The Company of Serpents was fucking heavy as shit. They were definitely my kind of Satan.
Great fucking show.
So bummed I had to miss this show.

In Australia we have this one promoter who runs a company called Heathen Skulls touring and he is known to really screw bands over.
There are countless stories of him ruining international touring band's trips and what not.
He screwed Sunn over and took them for a ride until he backed out and admitted to owing money elsewhere etc
He has also been the sole reason EHG didn't make it to Australia.
I don't understand why people like this are given credibility or even allowed to continue operating a business!!!
People like that make me think "Do we need to implement a licensing law for business operators?"
Just don't screw with music, be upfront and honest and a decent human being.
Damn!

Provincetown! It was a hoot. We were two doors down from a club that had a dance party every afternoon and it was hilarious to witness from afar. And a 5 minute walk from an incredible beer bar that had so much good stuff on tap every day and killer food. Had a huge lobster, too.

Well, it was a shitload of fun and we're gonna do at least one show in August. We revisited a bunch of old shit that came back far easier than I thought it would- which probably means it was never rocket surgery anyway, but whatthefuckever. Probably put together one or two new things, maybe, to go with. Now I just have to figure out how to construct the best mountain of amps for the sound we're after- think fast, dirty with the occasional quiet and or heavy and or slow part. Just went through a Plush 100w with some pedals today and that was pretty good, needs a bassier component- probably add a meatsmoke and tune the whole thing with cabinet selection. I'd love to run even more heads, but thinking about the mechanics of using more than two makes my head hurt.

That's especially sad. An interview I read said that was one of the places they've wanted to play the most. Not sure if they have at all based on this info.

fuckin A man, I'm stoked for this. Please don't do it on the 29th, we have a show that night and I really want to catch this.

We had some false starts in my band at first, the worst being we finally got a stable drummer only for him to quit after our first show in favor of being in a punk/ska band. It was lametarded, but we found our current drummer and things are swinging right now.
BTW, played with Holly Hunt here in Orlando last night. They're so incredible. Their new record is supreme. Go check their tour dates and see them if you can!
Holly Hunt are playing Savannah tonight with Shroud Eater, Ringworm, Enabler and Eyehategod and I am fucking missing it. Sucks being broke. Shroud Eater have came through GA twice since I put their record out and I've missed them both times. I feel like the shittiest turd for not being able to hang out with them, Last time I locked my keys in my truck and by the time I got it unlocked it was too late to make the trip.
This is a damn shame.
Saw Eyehategod a week ago and it was fucking awesome. I mean -- I saw them back in April and it was quite good then but this venue was more intimate and I wasn't outside in frigid weather. They just sounded great and the stage was perfect size. Additionally, both Enable and Ringworm were fucking awesome.
And I was at a bar where the floor is modeled after the floor in Special Agent Dale Cooper's Laura Palmer dream with the backwards talking midget.

and

Anyway -- moral of the story is this...
I feel like we need to have a doom bro code. Like, straight up I would hate for ANYBODY to have to miss this show because they get paid next week. I feel like there are enough solid doom bros who would chip in a couple bucks here and there to get another solid doom bro some cheesus for a good show.
Everything about this post is pure fucking win.
Will be picking up a copy for sure.

Yeah, fuck that guy. When I lived down there you never heard of anyone doing that sort of thing. It was always awesome and the people booking shows always took care of the bands. I don't know how much has changed though since I've been there. That was about 10 years ago. We will be down there in October though, supposedly with one of the bands on Kylesa's label.
Recorded drums for those two songs this morning at our space. Nailed both in one take each. Drummer is fucking amazing. Came home and set everything up to record my guitars but all I got done was the clean stuff on one of the songs. Right when I got done with it a huge fucking thunderstorm came up so I shut everything down. I'm gonna try to knock out the rest of mine on Tuesday when I get home from work and then everyone else later during the week.

Yeah.....posted about it on our facebook and it's gotten close to 1,000 views with tons of people posting about the info, so hopefully they catch up with the guy.
Also, very awesome about both the recording and the october show. We want to come up and play GA real bad.
