saw holly hunt last night.
fucking awesome. there was some weird room verb going on so sometimes the lower octave parts of the guitar riffs (everything is run through a pog) could get a little muddy but damn were they sweet.
dual hiwatt rig of doom. two tray nor 2x15s and two home made cabs that looked to be oversized 4x12s, maybe ported somehow? not sure as the grill covered everything. was talking gear with gavin. he has 4 EGC fiddles now. it's crazy.

An hour north or south?
Drive an hour south to practice, drive an hour north to go home.
ill probably only be able to do it once a week, so I just hope theyre productive and dont fuck around and waste time. They have a practice space and a good bit of material already. The ad said they used a stereo setup with loops and multiple amps. I hope that they left room for bass (which I assume they did, posting an ad looking for a bassist) and that my setup can keep up volume-wise. I have an Ashdown 4x10 that can take 600w at 8ohms, but my head puts out 250w at 4ohms, and only 125w at 8, solid state. So Im not using the cab even close to its full potential. I haven't had a chance to crank it though. I can only turn it up to 2 or 3 at home, but I have never used it with a full band. I want to upgrade my head eventually, but I don't want to have to do it in order to play with these guys.
Honestly, my pessimism is getting the best of me, and they haven't responded yet, so I'm not getting my hopes up too much. This is exactly what I want to be playing though, so its hard not to be excited.

If you're coming south then you'll be close to me. I might know these dudes. Hopefully it will work out and we get to hook up some shows together.

solid dude. we don't talk much outside of posts here and there on instagram so I didn't want to be like, "oh hi I'm odontophobia from the internet, we've both been drinking this is awkward" so we just talked gear like a couple of nerds and parted ways at the end of the night.
then i ate a big buford at rally's because beer made me do it

yeah, he was nice as hell. next time they come through.
they seem to like grand rapids and they've made some friends here so even though turnout wasn't mind blowing last night (though they probably got a decent pay out from bar sales)

So many clist flake outs in past few days. Feels organized at this point. Email me about gear, get to "where should we meet up" stage then cease communication

wait, "8x12" ?
I love you.
really, you are possibly twice as mad as I am. Fucking DO IT!!!!
Got to play with Mikes band "Ex-Gods" tonight. I am glad we played first. Mike, I gotta hit you up about the strings you are using cause it looked like you were trying like hell to break em and they held up. Sounded glorious.

Make sure it's going to be movable...I like the slant bottom and the wheel placement of Ampeg 8x10's. Great sounding huge cabs that aren't easily moved have a habit of not being taken to gigs.

Yea cause I thought about doing an 812 quite few times and decided it wasn't worth my time for my own needs.
