Yea speakers be made of paper but what did that idiot do in packing? stack them in each other? cause that's what it looks like due to the damage. what a fucking retard.

The new Electric Wizard sounds great. I'll pick it up.

I like that SG800. I don't like SG's in general but that looks like a LP cut to a SG and would play that.

I look forward to seeing what's in the book and I guess reading what you wrote as well.

Yeah, the Yamaha sg's are actually a double cut les Paul style and not an sg at all. They used sg as a model name going back into the '60's when they weren't copying gibson at all. The '60's and early '70's sg's are all kinds of crazy shapes. In the mid '70's when all the Japanese companies were copying gibson and that's what the market wanted Yamaha jumped on board and made that awesome double cut les Paul design. They just kept the model name as sg cause that's what they'd always done. Even though in the beginning it was a coincidental similarity in name to the gibson guitars. Obviously it throws a lot of people off who are expecting an actual sg copy.

All that being said, unless you're looking at a nicer one like an sg 1500 or better, I'd probably go with the ibanez. The 700 and 800's aren't quite on par with the artists in terms of materials and build quality. Although they are still good guitars. I'd go with the ibanez anyway on that list although I wouldn't kick that tokai out of bed by any means.

samzadgan wrote:i like those Guild Aristocrats...they look great and i played one of the newer ones and they feel pretty nice man. I'm not much of a fender fan, so can't really comment fairly.

I'm having some guitar choice dilemma's...i'm going between these ones:
- Ibanez early 80's Artist in Tobacco burst
- Yamaha SG700 cherry burst or Black
- Tokai LS70 with BKP Mules (which is now the LS85) cherry burst
- Gibson LP studio Fireburst with gold hardware

I'm thinking the Tokai...but not 100% sure...any experience with these?

Speaking only from guitars I have experience with-

I'd drop the Gibson off that list. Not enough bang for your buck there.

Darren's Yamaha SG is the shit. I got to play it and instantly fell in love. If I didn't have this wierd thing about tremolo's being on everything I'd own one by now. Only con (and this is debateable) It's heavy as fuck. Majorly beefy guitar. Some might say that adds to the tone but again, debatable.

Ibanez 80's artist. Have not played this, but D-day recently got one and seems to be favoring it over the Yammy, which I loved, so, yeah... take that for what it's worth.

No idea with the tokai.

I've got a Yamaha SG300, and even being a lower model, it's one of my favorite guitars I've ever owned. I can get the action stupid fucking low, and it feels amazing. It sounds great, but I got it with Duncans in it.

Sure do. With a picture of Morrissey taped to it and those flats you gave me on it. It plays too damn good to get rid of. Gonna bring a guitar when I visit on Wednesday, can't decide on the red sg or the Yamaha.

Played a show on Saturday and a few light fixtures fell down from the ceiling while we were on. Didn't land on anybody and the owner of the place thought it was awesome haha. Milestone acheived.

Eyehategod was not bad last night. I got super tired and eventually everything seemed to drag on me.

Had fun seeing some friends at the show.

They were pretty on point when I saw them a month ago.

Seeing Thou and the Body tonight. Beyond pumped. First time Thou is coming through town so I'm amped up. Gonna be a long day as it's basically work 10-7, run home try to cook/eat dinner, and then head out to the show. The show is a six band bill so I doubt it'll miss anything as it's starting at 7.
