Edit: 15+minutes later, end song one. sterile drums bugged me at first but the riffs were so good I forgot about that. Really dug it man.

shit...its been a while...hope everyone is doing well.

I gotta listen to those tracks Skully...i dug your previous stuff that you posted.

Skip...congrats on the drums mate. Looks good...and good luck with the band too.

On my front, todays is the 3rd week of my time off post redundancy...gotta say its been great not to have to think about work. We hired a car and headed south to Cornwall and we'll be here for another couple of days. Took my son to the beach today, had his first play in sand and surf, and loved it! Took some video's of him...he looked like old drunk polish man...he couldn't walk straight in the water and was falling over every few steps.

also, on the way down south I bought a guitar too...(already in Guitlove...but thought i need to post for the doom bro's)

The shitty part is, I'm not going to be playing much till mid august as I have another holiday planned when we finish this one. But from when I tried it out, it sounded and felt great!

Thanks man! I agree about the drums. I was in a rush and wanted to get them recorded fairly quickly so I didn't spend much time changing up the patterns, but I'm glad you dug it!

My music may be ugly, but I do believe in making it look great. Spent the last few hours assembling these jackets and screen printing cds for a short run of physical copies to sell at shows until we can get the other two recorded and HOPEFULLY put out a 12".

The snazz. Keep us posted. I will require one.

skullservant wrote:DOOMBROS! I finally had some time to record something after a few months of being too busy!

I recorded a new EP over the weekend with Idiotbox Effects tourbox- all tracks used the Blower Box and Dungeon Master, along with the Dimension X Delay!
I tried to cover a few different styles, so the first track is a 15 minute funeral doom epic, followed by a sludgy thrash song, with a classic doom feeling closer.

You can check out the EP here:

Listening now. Very rad :thumb:

Dudely update!

With VEGAs debut mastered were getting physical copies rolling. Planning a small batch of CDs with our own artwork just to get something out there while our artist finishes the real awesome artwork and while we label shop to see if anyone wants to help us put it on vinyl and do a bigger batch of CDs with the new artwork. Also got some shows coming up, one being this thursday, our first normal show in over 6 months! Were ready. We also just got added to the Windhand, Jex Thoth, and All Them Witches show as the openers when they roll through town in mid September. And depending on if we have our CDs by then, our CD release show is at the end of September and that shoe includes our recording engineers band!

On a side note, literally, I finally am getting my drum and bass 2 piece side project off the ground. Its called Galactic Hatchet, think if Om and Bismuth had a bastard child together. We have one song done, just tightening up the transitions. Both me and the drummer are bassists by trade, so were pretty much on the same page, it makes it a whole lot of fun. Can't wait to start playing shows. The whole 2 people thing makes things quite easy when it comes to scheduling things or making decisions, also I can run my full wall of Peavey. I also have a lot more creative say, not that I don't have any in VEGA, but as the only riff player, what I riff, is the riff.

And as always, the Dude abides

So I went and tried out for a band today. A heavy instrumental post metal shoegaze type thing. It went really well and they want me back next week. Feeling pretty good right now.

One major plus is that they have a bass amp at the space that kicks so much ass. Its an old solid state Peavey Bass amp and a Peavey 2x15 cab. So kvlt. They apologized for the amp, but it was perfect. Plenty of mid response and punch you in the gut lows. And grindy as fuck. I didn't manage to get a clean sound out of it, but I didn't have much time to mess with it. Sounded great as soon as I plugged in. Even better when I kicked on my Rusty Box. I didnt need my overdrives at all, except to boost my fuzz a bit. May end up downsizing back to a Mini to make more room, although I don't see myself using too many effects with this band besides fuzz and octave. The guitar player uses loops and lots of delay and reverb, so I'm thinking I should stay away from those specifically. Not sure yet though. That Black Fountain looks super tempting. Maybe a vibe or a chorus. Mostly I just want some dirt. If I can get the amp cleaner, I'll just keep my Fuck Mountain on the board and set one side to a chunky overdrive and the other to a growly fuzz. My Unpleasant surprise was the star player tonight, but I'm gonna have to mess with my Buzzz. The amp didn't know what to do with it. It got all squishy and a little farty.

Sorry for the rambling. I'm just excited and high and sleepy.

Before I put it on B/S/T, would anyone be interested in my HCFX Doom Room Edition Badascan?

I would definitely bring a phaser, clean digital delay, looper, and maybe a flanger into the mix. If you're in standard or close to it, I'd grab something like an OCD to have grindy overdrive/lower gain distortion on tap.

I took my BitQuest but didn't mess around with it much. That covers the delay and flange, plus the reverb is pretty nice, especially full wet for tidal waves of fuzz. The ring mod rate also goes low enough to get into trem/vibe territory. The only thing that sucks about it is that I always wish I could use 2 effects at once on it. Any effect I really like, I'll probably end up buying dedicated boxes for.

And I've been eyeing a whetstone. Now might be a good time to really consider it.

I'm not sure what I'll really need yet. Yesterday was just mostly jamming to see if I could hang, and then they threw a few weird rhythms/time signatures at me to see if I was bullshitting when I said I could play mathy stuff. We're going to start working on actual songs next time.

conky wrote:That sounds rad. It wasn't Canopy was it?

No, they haven't picked a name yet. Their old band was called Lada and they've been in other Atlanta bands. Both guys are named Chris, which is funny cause the last band I was in, both guys were named Chris.
