Ive got the predecessor the US-1642 and love it. Extremely easy to use, no driver issues, alot of flexibility as far as inputs / outputs and the sound quality isn't horrible. I've recorded whole albums with it and had zero problems. If you can get one for the right price I say jump on it, it hard to find an interface for less than a grand that has 8 xlr inputs built in, along with 6 1/4 in's.....

congrats on the new kid!

Yeah i know right.... Well as far as amp's I'm down to just the Dunwich / Emperor stack (Annunaki > 6x12 + 3x15). Guitar wise I have two DeArmond S-67 7 strings (one with BKP Painkillers and one with SD Distortions) tuned to Drop F, and my Monson Nomad (with SD black winters, currently tuned to a modified Drop B for the guitarist in one of my bands to record with its usually in C standard). Effects wiseI've got this \/ (polytune > TB loop [Dunwich Cthulhu > Dunwich Volt Thrower in loop] > TB modded crybaby wah > akai headrush E1 > Dunwich Clean boost) plus a few random pedals (EBA Supercollider, a couple dirge utility pedals and a gloomdrive, another tuner, and I have an RV-3 coming soon).

This is becoming a thing for me as well. Thank fuck I'm broke.

I was just telling a friend of mine last night that I'm not really gassing for anything right now... except synth stuff and weird oscillation pedals and stuff.

oooooof.

definitely enjoying being a broke ass right now. otherwise I'd spiral into crippling debt thanks to the almighty synth and fuzz combo.

Yeah man, and I just watched the Hawkwind doco.....
FARK.

Also, Skip, stop showing off that sexy, sexy board.... ;)

Listening to the new Earth now. I like it, but I don't love it. So much of Earth for me is that post-Hex semi-clean tone, so it sounds a little weird to hear Dylan's characteristic melodies coming out of an amp that dirty. And I really wish someone other than Lanegan was singing. Gentry Densley would have been a much better fit, IMO.

Haven't heard the new Earth yet, but Lanegan, true....
I'd be interested in that, I really love his voice.
If you're saying it isn't a great fit though, that is disappointing.
Gentry is the man.

I kind of dig that Dylan's starting to experiment with dirt and smaller dirty amps. I know he's been playing through a 1w Marshall live from time to time, cranked. I think it gives a little bit of variety. I think Lanegan's vocals kind of give it a retro kind of 70's occult vibe, but that's just me. I'm curious, does the whole album have vocals or just that track?

I don't have any prior exposure to Lanegan apart from passing encounters with Screaming Trees' material in the early-mid '90s, so maybe his involvement is more meaningful to others. I just hear post-Staley white-boy alt-blues-rock.

Two instrumental tracks (three if you get the vinyl), two with Lanegan, and the previously-leaked track with Rabia Shabeen Qazi on vocals (which I quite like).

My vinyl copy should be here today, can't wait to give it a spin. I can't imagine this being better than my favorites but it something new is always welcome.

Glad to see I outlasted so many gear changes you have gone through!

Dude... nothing touches what you make.... When ever I get a piece of gear you make I'm never ever dissatisfied. Trust me when I can afford to buy back the Weed Wizard I fully plan on doing it. I really really wish I could have kept it, but even if I hadn't traded for the Matamp it eventually would have had to hit the chopping block. But luckily it went to the right person who will without a doubt make sure it gets back to me at the appropriate time.

WAT

Lanegan's solo records are incredible, and he was part of the real scene that didn't include Alice In Chains.

Like I said, I can only comment on what I hear and have heard. I'll check out Lanegan's solo work, but it's already too late for him to make a good first impression on me with the Earth record - I'm only ever going to hear how much I want someone else's voice on those tracks.

Fortunately, new YOB is also out today, and I already know how good that is.
