Nowhere near as boomy as I was expecting, but not quite as cataclysmically heavy as I anticipated either. My 4x12 has 103db speakers and this has 100db, and is obviously pushing a different set of freqs as well. It sounds good though, just have to experiment !

that's because 100w isn't really driving it hard enough. if i was getting a rig like that i would get a good amp, and a good powerful slave in order to push the drivers to move air efficiently.

I know the whole watts thing is a component, but I'm not trying to make it sound like a full bass, I just wanted to experiment with an 8x10.

Fully not expecting it to sound like a 500watt bass amp, but I decided it would be easier than buying an empty cab and finding the same speakers which would end up costing me another £500 in total just to match the first one (when the speakers were cheaper), when I got this for very little and can sell my 4x12 too

I know I need to find a way to push it harder, but it is very loud still even with just 100 watts

(Though admittedly I did pick it up so I could use it for bass too)

you could try getting a clean boost full blast in the FX loop or something. if you want i could check if i have something laying around, but i don't think anything i have would meet the requirement. i do have a BAT Oath which would blast that shit with such force those drivers would be moving like a monster truck with a plutonium reactor. wanna borrow it?

massive setup, either way.

There is a line in/out that has +8db, which isn't really made to be an FX loop. Doesn't really work properly for putting pedals in to boost, but I don't really know...

Cheers for the offer anyway dude!

RE-EDIT - - - So much hum in this new house in the evenings. The only thing in my rig that's changed is my new cab, and even then the hum is affecting all my guitars, amps, cabs and cables. Can't seem to isolate a problem other than "shit electrics" in my new house.

Any suggestions? I'm using the ABY pedal I have with it's ISO switch on, and that's reducing some of the noise, but it's still far beyond tolerable levels with a gain monster like the AOR.

The solution is in your story - you need to play some shit like Earth. Slow, sad, heavy, lonely, pretty shit.

Also totally moving forward with getting some participation ribbons made up. The effing company takes a few weeks to make them, but it's the only place I've found where I can order less than 250.
