Comes across, to me, as insipid, uninspired retro retread music. It's like the Sword stole Electric Wizard's graphic designer and took bits and pieces of Blur B-sides into one big marketing mishmash of meh.
I do like the vocal delivery, though.

Yeah, I tried to post last night too, but kept getting errors.
The wife and I went to the Bloodmoon show in San Jose last night, but we ended up having to leave before any bands played. It was a little over an hour drive each way and I didn't want to leave my mom with our 2 month old at our house til after midnight. We still had a fun time just having our first outing with no baby, my wife wanted to be able to have more than one beer and hang around adults for a few hours straight. I chatted with Peter and Pat and bought a Bloodmoon shirt before we left, hopefully I get a chance to actually see them play sometime soon.

Saw uncle acid last night. It's rare that I'm blown away by a live band. In fact, in some ways I think I might just hate music because I usually am super critical and just don't like bands when I go to shows. But they were jaw dropping good. Great tone, super tight, great energy. It was the full package. I love their records and they were even better live, as any good band should be.
I always thought it sounded like they had a really good singer, but that a big part of the vocal sound was layered vocal tracks. I was all ready to be disappointed cause that's not going to happen live. But boy was I wrong. Both guitarists are actually great singers and the layered vocal sound is real in that both of them are singing together pretty much the whole time. And it was tight as fuck. The drummer was also the pinnacle of perfection. Solid as hell. Super tight. Very minimal fills. And he totally controlled the songs just with how hard he hit in a perfect way. Super dynamic and nuanced. Every hit was fucking perfect. And when it was right he hit really hard, which I love.
Best live band I've seen in a good while. Do not miss it if they're coming near you.
Good to know, just had their record on a couple days ago and was wondering how they would pull it off live. Hope to see them soon.
Tonight I'm going to OM in a tiny venue and I'm so fucking excited.

Not a fan of uncle acid. Vapid is the best I can describe it as.

Tried to post yesterday but the forum was down. Those Dunwich pedals are sexy. Can't wait to snag one of the HM2 clones. Messed around with the eq on my Soldano earlier and got the perfect (well, almost) blend of wall crushing fuzzed out doom and tight palm muting that will kick your dick in. Bass dimed, mids dimed, treble off, and presence on 2. Cleans sound pretty fat and clear too. Anyone else run a similar eq? I haven't tried it on the Matamp yet so I dunno how it will sound.

Oh the joys of parenthood. Gotta love being a responsible parent. Atleast you got to get out. We just had our first night out like two weeks ago since our three month old was born. I'm letting momma have a girls night tonight. I've had to miss atleast two bands I wanted to see because of one reason or another.

Every time I read stories like that... I'm thankful we opted not to spawn.

It's not really that huge of an adjustment for me anyway, because I really don't go out that much regularly anymore for years anyway. There's no venues and very few bands of any genres I enjoy in my area , so I have to drive at least an hour to see any good bands. Almost none of my friends have ever been into doom metal, stoner rock/metal, sludge or anything like that and quite a few of my previously frequent show going buddies moved out of the area a few years ago. Nobody I knows throws parties or house shows anymore. So if I want to go out to a show, it has to be kind of a special occasion. I would like to get back into a gigging band again, just so I can go to shows more often lol.
I have no regret or bitterness towards my kid at all, as nice as it was to get out of the house I missed him and was eager to see him by the time we were driving home.

I can barely get through the day as it is, I don't know how I could do it with a child to look after.

Yea I never took what you were saying, corey, as any sort of regret or bitterness. Just saying upon reading it that it's more that I'm quite pleased that I'm only tied down for my furchildren which actually have impacted some desicions on if we go out or not mainly cause we rather stay at the house with them than go.

Kids aren't for everyone. We were married for over a decade before we decided we wanted to have one. I'm not a fan of suggesting everyone else do what I do, everyone should do what works for them. I was already an old man way before I became a dad lol.

Same man...by the time we had kids we'd already stopped going out and getting trashed...life was already kid-friendly.
I would say, now that i have a kid...and another on its way...i cant imagine life with out him. It definitely gives me a lot more perspective on the important things in life (him) and unimportant stuff (sleep)!

I would love to see them. I would've had my expectations low for the vocals too - glad to hear they put some effort into it. And yes, dem Dunwich pedals are very sexy indeed. I really like the name/etch on the HM2.

Not that they are terribly similar things, but that's not far off of how I ran my little Jet City 22 when I had it.
This came yesterday. The riffs sound exactly like this motherfucker looks. I regret waiting so goddamn long after the tourbox to pick one up. Add in a Quantum Mystic and maaaaaaybe a DLSmkiii and I really can't think of another dirt tone I could want.

shit. lots has happened in the down time.
i got home from work the last two nights and just hung with the wife straight up. didn't even hit up the gear cave/office in the basement for some gaming/jamming/fuzzing.
gotta agree with SLK on the kid thing. I'm glad I don't have any but to side with Corey, it's really just not right for me RIGHT NOW. Maybe some day.
Like Corey was saying... I'm already an old man. Just cut up some peppers for dinner. Made a quiche this week. Fuck it, yolo, amirite?
Anyhow... I've been itching for a new computer and was going to bite the bullet this week but rumors of an Apple iMac refresh has me thinking it's time to wait. Which means time to pedlol? fuckkkkk. I don't know. That pouring purple stuff Ritual has me tight in the jeans.

It's made out of weed smoke and codeine. You should totally get one.
