I can't stand this type of shit. More places need to get on board with culling the lazy from their workforce, that way the people on the fence will step up and do their goddamn jobs. I mean, it's not that I don't like being rewarded for just doing my job as described, I would just give all that shit up for a workplace where this type of shit wasn't necessary.

Smokey Grinds. New heavy psych band name. Or weed porn. Whichever.

That sounds bad ass as either. Maybe a Fumidor/Weed cafe?

Yeah, I was really pissed when work announced they were going to run that. rewarding people for doing what is basically their job is gotarded. So I just did my job and got rewarded.

From my limited experience working for other companies, it seems like they want you to only work within certain limits, going above and beyond isn't really desired.
I like working for myself because I can dedicate as much time to a particular thing I want and take it as far as I want. However, working for yourself sucks because money.

Not here - or not in mental health, anyhow. Every company I've been around will let you gladly work yourself to death as long as you aren't breaking any labor laws. A lot of that has to do with decreasing insurance reimbursement, bureaucratic bullshit, insurance companies delaying payment to providers, and a whole lot of other reasons that means my advanced degree earns me dick for salary.

Yeah, its a bit of a tightrope between the two at my workplace.
Don't shine too bright, don't be average.
Frustrating.

Also, ry, that seems like a score man. :thumb:

I think the current rule in the US is that the more advanced your degree, the less money you earn.
I went on a job interview yesterday just to see what's out there. The guy said the position pays 50k. I guess the 5+ years experience in my field didn't mean much.
The people I know who seem to be making the most money are the ones with only college or even high school degrees.
Most people I know with masters or law degrees are earning less.
Anyways, not to get off track too much, but this has really been getting at me lately.
Times like these I'm thankful for doom music.

Lambshamer... I dig. Might become a band name. lol.

well jammed with 2 guys today. wanted to start up something slow and low... dig eyehategod and such... sent em some bands they both dug and wanted to shape towards... Toadliquor, Frogskin, Graves at Sea...

everyone in place... start jamming.... god some people just aren't meant for music. Both claimed to be drummers and if you listen to them by themselves yea they can play drums. obviously not for a band, any band. the best I played the easiest doom riff and I couldn't get them to lock in. They guy who was playing bass.. have it on my gear cause he doesn't play bass he has played some guitar and what not... he couldn't follow what I was doing so I told him it's 0 9 6. and then I had to show him on the fret board where 9 and 6 were.

Waste of time. goddamn.

that sucks Krosis.

I've been there dude. Jammed with a bass player a couple of months ago. He knew where the frets were ok. But I was telling him what key signature and what intervals to play in that key. He looked at me puzzled. Is it too much to ask that a bass player knows just basic theory? :idk: In the end I just had to show him what to play just not to waste the day completely.

Lol and I'm sitting here like, I'm a bass player that knows theory and has a bit of ability, but no one that I know wants to play doom... :(

If we weren't on opposite ends of the rock, I would doom out with you.
Oh will sort that thing out later tonight when my cash hits my account. :thumb:

I hate showing up to jam and seeing the guitarists concerned confused looks at my pedalboard. And hell, its just a few dirt pedals and an octave. But inevitably, the phrase I dread hearing the most happens:

"You should just play clean."

FUCK YOU, YOU PLAY CLEAN

Just tell them that dirty is the new clean and to go fuck themselves.

Most of the stuff I've been involved with has had little room for pedals other than an overdrive or something. One of the best compliments I've received though was "you end this song, you can make it way noisier and louder than I can".
