That's why we like you, please don't ever change.
Well then... I think I'm gonna need to hear this post-dook demo.

misterstomach wrote:there's a dude on here that plays in the live band for this project. spoiler: they're not from china. i listened to a song or two. i think it's not bad. less garbage than deafhaven at this point. we'll see how it plays out in real life beyond the albums, but the music is alright, at least on the couple of songs i heard. i'll probably hate them in a year when they turn out to be false fucking hipsters grabbing for fame or whatever people get when they win at that bullshit, but we'll see.
yeah, i heard they're actually from North Dakota? which isn't exactly a cultural bastion
but i do dig the music.

The drummer from Minsk recorded an ambient record in North Dakota. It's really fucking good -- need to find the CDR.
I quite like the melody on the intro. Pretty indifferent to the actual songs -- I don't like it as much as the new Leviathan on first listen, that's for sure.
edit: that 'You Beat The Boss, here's the ending credits' lead about 1:50 into the first track.

Looks much better. haha.
chillerthanmost wrote:Everyone bailed on me but I might still drive up the two hours to catch Old Man Gloom and Coliseum, even if I go solo, tomorrow night in SF.

Yeah -- I'd make the trip for that show.
I'm on the westside of Michigan. Some decent tours come through Grand Rapids and the city is growing at a pretty quick rate so it gets a good deal of tours, just not everything. Over the next few months I'll get to see Torche/Nothing/Wrong, Weedeater, Andrew WK (confirmed I'll be hitting those). May also hit up Jucifer. May go to Sepultura because why not. In the past year-sh I've seen Weedeater, Full of Hell, Swans, Saint Vitus, Pallbearer, Pilgrim, Spirit Caravan amongst others that I'm surely forgetting.
That being said most tours end up coming to Chicago or Detroit. Chicago is a three hour drive (but I have very close friends there that I can crash with) and Detroit is about 2.5 hrs. I do both at least a handful of times per year. I have no qualms about going solo if I have to but I'd always rather have company as I'm sure most of us do when required to do some traveling.
Anyway -- I'd make the two hour trip solo for OMG and Coliseum.

Dude why wouldn't you do Sepultura? They're awesome -- even the newest incarnation.
Furthest trip: I drove eight hours (one way) to see Sleep once, when it wasn't really sure they were going to do anything other than the 2010 dates. Burlington to Philly. That was a long fucking drive. A 2 hour trip is pretty standard fare, since that's how far away I am from Boston.

Is anyone going to At the Gates/Converge/Pallbearer in Philly on April 11th?

I saw Sepultura back in 94-95 somewhere around then when they came to oz. Biohazard were the supporting act. Great show all round. Though I liked Biohazard more. They really went off.
