Yes I will make clips and Corey Young will make official demosHarry_Manback wrote:Nick - those look dope. Are you gonna make some clips? And where can we find descriptions of each?
The one Sunn amp I played out of wasn't absolutely amazing or loud until you hit it with some fuzz. Then it seemed to get three times louder and sounded fucking killer. Then again, one speaker isn't really pushing that much air, even for a 15.Wes Mantooth wrote:So there may be a better place to post this but there's so many people knowledgeable about amps here so...
I've got a Sunn Sorado that sounds fucking killer and I'm letting the guitarist in one of my bands use it during shows and practice. In practice he has to turn it all the way up to 10 to be heard over our other guitarists Fender Hot Rod and my Ashdown MAG300. It's plugged in to a 1x15 speaker cab with an Eminence Kappalite 3015. Bad amp/speaker pairing? Or will plugging in another cab to run it at 4ohms make a big difference? It still sounds good, it's just I've heard about Sunns being so loud and mine really isn't at the moment. Just trying to see if I should re-tube it or take it in.

Generator powered by a windmill. When the winds die down, drone in it's direction at high volume. It's pretty much self-sustaining powerAxAxSxS wrote:Environmetal. Green Doom.
My plans to go off grid hinge on generating enough power to run all the rigs as often and hard as required.
That's been my current life plan for quite some time.chillerthanmost wrote:Give up and drink beer. Where do I sign up?

The one of each crossed my mine, just gotta get over my OCD of symmetry hahaha

The Fuzz is a 1 knob version of the FuzzThrone, lots of the controls are fixed but there is an internal tone trimmer and the switch controls the treble content. High gain silicon type fuzz, lots of low end but still holds together. Nothin glitchy, I always prefer smooth fuzz.
Here is a short vid clip of that

The Distortion is a modern tuned version of the Volt Thrower, internal Bass, Treble, and Distortion controls. The switch goes from low gain to high gain mode. Much smoother, more modern than the usual VT.
The Boost is an adaption of the boost circuit used on the Boss FZ2, switch adjusts the range of the Boost control. Has an internal trimmer for the biasing. Uses 2 BS170 MOSFETS and 2 Ge RCA PNP Transistors
I had a Sorado for a while and it never cut it in the volume department with the full band. It was excellent when we only were doing one guitar player playing two rigs, with the Sorado being one of them. But by itself there's no way I was able to keep up. Even my first gen Model T sometimes barely keeps up. What's up with that? I think it's just hard to find something louder than my Sound City, which just over powers everything (besides that SVT on bass). But yeah, I thought my Model T would smoke it, but it's just about the same volume, a bit less volume, and more break up. Hmm.... Maybe it's the 509v of the T compared to like the 550v out of the Sound City? I don't know. I don't think I answers your question. It's late, I'm tired, and beer.Wes Mantooth wrote:So there may be a better place to post this but there's so many people knowledgeable about amps here so...

Just got a Sorado dropped off to fix up. Immediate issue, a solid state rectifier tube replacement appears to have been smashed. Should be a super easy fix and I'll report back with how it sounds through a 4x12.Wes Mantooth wrote:So there may be a better place to post this but there's so many people knowledgeable about amps here so...
