I'm probably going to have to fill some holes with that faux wood glue stuff... And repaint it. I don't really care what it looks like. What should I do to paint it? Strip it down and then spray paint then a clear coat? Sanding in between coats?
Sorry to threadjack.... One I get the project up I'll post in DIY.

Re: Cheap Jazzmaster/ Jagmaster Knock-offs?
Instead of buying guitars, I decided to buy tools and start building...

Except for the purple Explorer thing (recent commission, started last week), those are all from about two years ago, but there have been a ton more. Since those, I've started building necks and working on my own designs. This past year has been slow, as I took a position at a local cable manufacturing plant. But, I was let go today so there are going to be a bunch more builds. I usually post over at offsetguitars.com

Woah!
Gorilla glue is a no go. The gorilla glue is a polyurethane and it expands to fill in gaps, but it will never cure hard enough to regain the integrity of the lamination. You have to bond the wood fibers together using wood glue.
Now you have to resaw the body, joint the remaining edges, add new material to make up the difference and laminate the whole thing. Don' t use wood filler. Just make your two piece body a three piece. Avoid putting laminations in the path of the strings. Take advantage of the situation and change the tone of the jagmaster, put in a strip of maple....
Wait...wait....okay I got it. I have figured this thread out.
You went from half-hazardly slapping your jagmaster together with gorrila glue to fabricating bodies with cleanish routes and finishes on a commission basis. That is quite a progression in a three year period....congrats. Did you take a woodworking course?

How about cheap skinny jaguar/mustang necks? One day, I'd like to part together a tele with a jaguar neck.

(could've sworn I had replied to this... Anyway....)
Gorilla glue was definitely not the best choice... I did eventually rip the body down the middle, joint it and glue in a proper piece of soft maple. Ended up handing it off to a friend. If I can dig up pics of it, I will.
A lot of what I've built hasn't been commissioned. I typically just build whatever I feel like and usually end up selling them. The only body I've kept is the black Telemaster body (which will soon be getting a Danelectro baritone neck and black 'guard)...
Haven't taken a woodworking course, just bought a few books, constantly read what I can on the 'net, and jumped into it. Figured if I was going to be shelling out money constantly on hunting down guitars that are perfect for me or modding them until they are, I'd be better off just buying tools and investing my time learning all I can about building guitars. So far, save for a few new tool purchases recently, everything's payed for itself and I really enjoy woodworking.

Not lace, just a piece of fabric, Titebond and ample sanding sealer. You can't see any of the fuck ups in that pic, but I had some horrible runs with the red- mismatched the primer and color coats. So, I've stripped it back and the body's waiting to be fixed up and properly finished. I'll be shooting for a burst closer to the Paisley Telecasters.

Because of the logistics involved, that'd be damned near impossible...

PM me if you want to work something out.
