Wish they would do a HOG in a smaller enclosure. Loved mine so much, it has sat in a drawer for a decade because I can never fit it on the board. I should sell it at this point . . . it's not going to magically shrinky winky

i have a Black Finger that i really like, but haven't really gotten deep into it. it's great for subtle stuff, can limit you so big chords are at the same level as leads without obvious squish, and can add some nice crunch if you fuck with the Input and Post Gain. i want to swap the tubes for a GE and a Telefunken to get that blend of Fender-ish warmth and dead clean Germanicism.

the Mel9 attracts me in a totally irrational way.

so put it next to the board? or have another board?

Altough POG2 has some useful features, it sounds drastically different from the V1. And with different i mean that it sounds digital.
Don't know how you power it, but have you tried to change the power supply? It made All the difference on mine.

The additive nature of the HOG has always had me gassin', though I don't mind a big box (they're still quite expensive, though have begun to slide lately).

I'll always be a fan of their big box/Sovtek-era, though I'm glad they keep their newer stuff affordable (though sometimes confusing, but not in the good Flanger Hoax-type way).

The only thing that kills it for me lately is their QC, overall, which is why I more or less have stayed away from most of their newer stuffs.

The Mainframe looks great, but I didn't find their first demo too pleasing - once it gets into the hands of someone with a synth, I can't wait to be wrong.

I've been curious about that thing for so long and never saw one up for sale for under, like, $300.
They would pop up once in a while pre-pandemic, but the tube series overall has been scant lately (it also didn't help that some people would list it as Tube instead of 2ube, but w/e). Also, most of them would be As-Is/without functioning tubes, which is like :idk:  :hobbes:

IMO, the Nano POG sounds the least digital of the modern POG bunch (POG2/Micro/Nano), although even though I've tried/heard all of those, I've never been near an old POG somehow, so can't compare to that.

Robert Fripp as usual not in the spotlight but nonetheless stealing the show with his playing. :)*

Yeah, 2 just doesn't seem to get it. Looks like 1s are stupid pricey now, though. I'm still using the original PS with mine, what did you change to?

It was already the most expensive of the tube series on the used market for years because of Walter Becker using it, now they're both discontinued so I guess prices will keep going up. Anything up to $250 sells immediately.

I tried all of those except the Nano, so there's still a chance I can be wrong. I think the real thing that makes the og shine is the sliiiight warm dirt that it adds when pushing the input level and subsequent octaves. The LPF has some character too.

First I had a couple of the original ps and fried both of those during the years, then bought a third one (not from ehx) which was even worse. Then bought another original one which was.. Ok, but still has some problems from time to time. Then I managed to plug it into the 1spot CS12 (with a reverse polarity connector) and all the floor noise problems were gone. It is marked 18V 500mA, which is hard to find in a power brick, but its real power draw is around 220mA, plus the CS12 distribuites all its power through all the outlets regardless of how they are marked, which has been super useful to know.

Folks who have tried the superego and the superego+.... how much better is the +?

Superego has been a staple for me for several years and I do occasionally wonder about upgrading.

I've had both and the + doesn't measure up to the original I had volume and trigger issues when solely using the straight up effect and mixed results with the built in effects, I sold it and went back to the OG one and was much happier my opinion they concentrated on all the bells and whistles and not the original effect :(

Forgot about the tube series. The EQ looks great, tube zipper seems cool too albeit a little gimmicky. Pretty odd that Walter Becker of all people managed to bump up the price of a pedal. When has HE ever had a killer tone, it seems it's always other guys. I think I have seen it go for less $300 prices here in sweden though, if I remember I can tell you when I see one

Interesting. I had problems with triggering the OG in some parts of the fretboard and the + solved that problem for me. That's only the reason I have the + since the effects are kind of useless to me
