Interesting indeed. I'll also have a TOD-9 and an EM-5 chained together to see if I can cop some similar tones.

im here for it all.
also interested to know if the thick chord could easily be substituted for some sort of barrel powersupply/wall wart or if there is a specific reason for it being that awkward thick black chord.

It's thick because this pedal runs on mains power (120vac) directly. The high level (165v?) power for the tube is derived from a transformer inside. This pedal is heavier than a brick. After the hurricane, the town may be gone, but the Echodrive won't budge.

oh that's interesting it is actually a high V+. Does the transformer have heater taps as well or are they deriving that elsewhere?

I'll let you know when I start dissecting it.

Sorry to keep this so suspenseful, but aside from the DEFX projects that are currently in the cue, I was away all last week for work. To be totally honest, I haven't even had a moment to plug it in and try it yet, but fear not, it's sitting next to my bench.
Quietly waiting for me.
Like a stone.

Now now, no need for snarkiness.
I finally found a moment to plug it in the other day, and........
Nothing.
Pulled the back off, and found the tube dislodged from the socket, and wedged into a corner. It failed the UPS test. Plugged it back in and it roared to life life life life.
It's on the bench now, open and ready for disassembly. Might have some time to start tracing tonight. Been working on the car for the last few nights, and the wife still knows my name.

haha sorry, that wasn't aimed at you! It was for the King of the hill screen shots check ins.
I'm curious if thing thing lives up to the hype. I used to have a Guyatone HV tube pedal I really liked but it ended up being kinda redundant for me.

I have a Guyatone Metal Monster and it sounds like a fizzy 90s transistor distortion. Maybe that tube is doing something in there, but it sounds like lots of solid state clipping in there. I used to have the schem but I don't anymore.
This has literally nothing to do with this thread. I'll see myself out.

i don't wanna derail this thread either, but i may wanna a ping ya for examples of "fizziness"

Not to derail the derail, but I may have a schemo for it.
Now back to our regular programming....
