Ditto. I'd rather wait for a Dr. Scientist pedal any day.

So how can a firmware upgrade be made on this one? Chip swap? USB would be awesome but this would add to the cost I guess (though the TC toneprint pedals that have USB are relatively inexpensive.. hm...)....
(sorry if this has already been answered)

Everything is coded onto a chip. Either get the developer kit and DIY, or wait for Ryan to issue new badass chips ready to be popped in. Chip will be (??) socketed so you don't have to know anything about building pedals to swap it out.
So PUMPED!!

Hey Ryan, and possibility of a teaser demo for this thing?

Yo guys! I've been thinking about a demo lots lately... I'm still just fine tuning all the patches.. I really want to show it off when it's perfect and ready, give a great first impression. Plus I'm kinda pondering the best way to show it off without a ton of talking or a 20 minute video.. short and sweet and informative..

Yep, you just need a thumb and an index finger and you're set! Or a tweezer, that works too. I'm gonna switch to the mill-spec kind of socket with the round holes.. that kind can have a chip pulled out and put in a ton of times, don't even have to be careful, they're really bulletproof. The wiper kind like I'm currently using is more meant for once or twice use, very carefully, or the contact can pull out with the chip.

You can't assume that just because a company making hundreds of thousands of products can do something that it's reasonable for a guy making a couple dozen a month to do it too...
The Spin chip needs a lot more than a USB port to program it anyway, it needs a whole other micro and lots of supporting components.. most of the stuff on the development board is just to work with the FV-1, it takes up the most of the pcb with the actual FV-1 being a smaller circuit.

Welcome to ILF! First post in the BQ thread, how cool is that!

So now that I've pretty much got 8 patches worked out nicely, I'm kinda thinking some of them are maybe not weird enough... that maybe the BitQuest should be more about the weirdest of effects that you can't get easily... I'm kinda thinking maybe the cocked wah frequency boost patch and/or the notch filter patch should be something a little weirder or more esoteric...
I spent the night working on a ring mod patch.. and it's cool sounding!
What about this for a line-up:
Patch 1 - HP + LP filters
Patch 2 - Bitcrusher with sample rate reducer
Patch 3 - Ring modulator
Patch 4 - Flanger
Patch 5 - Pitch shifter/harmonizer
Patch 6 - 1 second clean digital delay
Patch 7 - Infinite reverb
Patch 8 - some other weird patch, more out-there than a frequency boost or notch filter... maybe that square wave chopper I almost have finished?
Could pretty much have 10 patches finished.. maybe for the ILF run you can choose your own 8?

Really digging that line-up, Ryan!
I'm assuming there would be demos of the 10 patches up so we would know what each one sounds like before we make a choice? If you decide to go that route. Really excited about this pedal. Can't wait to see a demo of it!
If you need a tester....I'm in Edmonton.....Just saying.

Awesome Ryan!
More weird = more better. Not just saying that because this is ILF and weird is synonymous with good, it just seems that weirder seems like you're really maximising the possibilities with a digital chip - you can do normal so easily on the analogue world.

How smooth will the transition from patch to patch be? Like, if I'm in patch 7/infinite verb, and turn the knob to patch 2, will it immediately change into bitcrushing or will it take a moment?

That is one sweet looking effects list. Also, I am pro-additional-weirdness.

I'm all for choice! I do t need reverb but I would love a notch filter and a throbbing trem!
