Word, this is a great demo of my stuff by Otu.

Basically goes straight for that dopesmoker tone and doesnt bother going much beyond that sound.

If I'm not mistaken (and it wouldn't take much) that's Conk's board!

Don't worry. You just made the wrong adjustment and threw your intonation to shit. A tech can fix it. It's possible you need a new nut. Great opportunity to upgrade to bone. Otherwise, it should be fixable with a truss rod/bridge adjustment. Sounds like you'll probably need a nut though.

Thanks man, that's definitely reassuring. I was kinda worried about the nut anyways so it might be a good time to think about changing that out.

That is quite a meaty sound there. A shame he didn't futz with it more, but of the demos of his I've seen they all aim pretty squarely at the Dopesmoker sound. Keep a good thing going I guess.

Also, Duncan Distortion inbound. If it's about as clear as my Super 2 in the bridge, but with better bottom end and low mids I think I'll be in love. MIGHT also pick up a JB to compare, since I've heard they're designed pretty closely but with different magnet types (JB=A5, DD=Ceramic) but it all depends on how pleased I am with the Distortion compared to my Dimarzios.

Yea thats definitely the most extreme sound you get but Corey recorded some less crazy demos on soundcloud if you want to hear the pedal in a less dopesmokery type setting.

I feel like a complete wanker for saying this but there definitely wasn't much in the way of the fragile upper harmonics you hear on the Sleep LP*. Lowened was boxier, too, but that's a youtube specialty.

whos board is that???

Woah my board is famous! That is the same face I make when I hit an open A at practice for the first time.

Missed lots of stuff on here and too much to multiquote but that Otu video sounds great. Saw Sleep and Windhand Sunday and was front row right in front of Matt Pike. He played through 5 Orange heads (Rockerverb and something else) and 10 Orange 4x12s. I wasn't all that impressed with his tone. Too many upper mids and his wanky solos hurt my ears. One good thing about being right up in front of him though was that Al's vocals were drowned out so it made it really enjoyable for me. Windhand were amazing. The best guitar tone I've heard in person in a while. Dorthia Cotrell had all the dudes (and ladies) swooning in the front row. After this show though, all I want to do is run a dual rig. OCD ain't winning out anymore with wanting to keep same amount of amps on each side of the stage. Matt's Earth head will be out of the shop soon though so he'll be dual rigging too hopefully.

Yeahhhhhh... Fortunately my fiance is qualified for some great higher ed jobs in the area and I've applied for a teaching fellowship for tuition and stipend, and I can always do PRN work a few hours a week for extra income. But mannnnnnn.

Be prepared for the $2500 studio. And that's in Bushwick.
