Yes. Could be maybe.
Make sure everything is isolated from each other, no enclosure sides touching or creating loops via contact with your board itself.
Try another signal chain order, swapping the Spectre & Xerograph positions. If issue persists, break them up & stick one somewhere else. If issue persists try moving the other pedal to a new location.
My own signal chain is finicky about location & the noise floor is affected, as well as undesirable distortion and issues with dynamics. Took trial & error to find an optimized order and what a huge difference it makes! It's the difference between immediate response I can control & response which feels laggy & out of sync. Also about 10dB of hiss.

I actually hadn't thought of that. God that would be ridiculous. LOL!! I just replaced them about a month ago, but it's possible!

if you have a cable plugged in it will draw power from the battery, maybe you left it plugged in?

Sorry, not being a dick.
I thought there was a big step away from active pups and they weren't hip anymore, so I was more commending your efforts to stay metal as fuck and keep using them.

my other guits have P90's and some kind of.,. magnetic coil. they sound good for what they do.

What's your baritone? ESP?
Also, HighDeaf's patch cable game is a rainbow of win.

That's a Pladask Elektrisk Romferd. They call it a metallic ambience pedal.

Your board is hot, so I assume so are you.

So just in case anyone is curious, I ran a few tests. First I switched the placement of the Chase Bliss Spectre and the Iron Ether Xerograph DLX. I place my Boss BF2 after the Spectre and have a Darkglass B7K Ultra at the end, so two buffers. That did NOT help at all. No changes.
Next I switched to new batteries, noting that the date I wrote on the previous set was only a few months back. This also did nothing. So I turned my preamp back a bit. I like to run things pretty hot. That did help for the most part. It stopped all distortion with the Xero and almost all with the Spectre. I still wasn't satisfied.
So I plugged in my Squier Jazz (all passive) and tried the same thing. I hit the fucking strings as hard as I could and even used a heavy pick. NO distortion at all and the Spectre actually opened up more. I got tones out of it I hadn't even noticed.
Very, very bizarre to say the least. I've had all the Chase Bliss products and this is the only one that has a problem with my active pups. I'm almost wondering if someone that owned it before me did in fact fuck with the trimmers. I'm kind of at a loss here. I'm half tempted to send it to Joel to look at and see if he gets the same results. I love the fucking thing, I want to use it. So it's pissing me off.
