So I've found a guitar I want to make an offer on, but there is no chance I can play it first. Never bought a used guitar without being able to play it first...but there is like no chance of finding something I want locally. What do?

Take a chance and flip if no good?

Yeah, that's a possibility. Whatever I get will be a gift from my family, so I should probably talk to them about how they would feel if I bought something, but wanted to flip if it wasn't as good as expected. Of course, I can't imagine a 30 year old Les Paul being bad, but I also have Charlie Brown luck when it comes to stuff like this...

I reckon you'll be right, remember to factor for string gauges and a set up.
A little basic maintenance will go a long way on a guit like that.

about half the guitars I own I bought unplayed. I've never really had any issue with doing so. Only had a couple of duds I flipped.

Yeah - I think I'm a little bit timid because I never liked that green Schecter Tele I had. That's the only one I never really liked though.

I took a total chance on my iceman and I now want to buried with her. 2c.

that's what it was when I got my Jackson Kelly. I've written more music on it than anything else that I have.

I actually prefer the light satin finish on the MM neck. One of the only things I didn't like about my MIM P feel wise was the gloss finish. Most of my favorite necks are satin or oiled.

Absolutely. I mean, I had to get a new neck bc my MIM neck was fucked, but I always hated that tacky gloss. I LOVE the satin feel of the Mighty Mite.

I have bought over a dozen guitars over the years without being able to play em. Only a Schecter and a lower end Jackson bummed me out. Right now, I have five guitars that I love and all of which were bought sight unseen. If you like LPs, I can't imagine a classic one with a good setup wouldn't be the cats doomy pajamas.

Thanks for the reassurance duders. The one I've got my eye on is overpriced by several hundred, but it's auto-rejected an offer I would consider reasonable.

There is a late 80's standard that has a few dings in it, but it's beautiful - one piece back and top. It can be had for less than half the price, so that's the backup plan if I can't come to a reasonable agreement with the custom dude.

Both of my Les Pauls were bought without me being able to play them. My Standard from Musicians Friend and my Custom from Japan off of ebay. They both played great out of the box but once they got a proper setup then they were perfect. I doubt you'll have any problems with them once you get them setup.

Dual rig guys, I need help. I'm running both at home now trying to work out the kinks with my Jamman's volume levels so we can still be able to shoegaze once Matt leaves. I'm noticing a tiny bit of electric shock if I rest my forearm on my stop tailpiece or bridge. Its barely noticeable and at first I thought I was being paranoid. I put my lips to the strings to see and it shocked me about as much as an almost dead 9 volt battery. I flipped the ISO and ground switches on my Bigshot all kinds of ways and it still does it. I even triued it with my Hum-X plugged in to the Soldano's power cable and it still does it. It stops when I take one of the amps off of the power strip. Should I get separate power strips for the amps? I don't see where that would help at the space though because we all run off of one quad outlet. Once time while playing in Atlanta I had my pedalboard and amp plugged into the same outlet and when my mouth touched the mic it shocked the everliving piss outta me. I don't wanna add a second amp to that mix.

yes to the separate strips cause while I was reading the first thing I was thinking was the actual power where you plugged in at.

try that first.

I never run everything out of the same circuit. that's really not that great for the equipment.

Separate power strips. Something about grounds and circuits and pain. I don't know the electricity-related science behind it, but as someone who has had the shit shocked out of them multiple times, separate power should do it. Also, get a foam cover/spit guard for your mic. In a pinch, use a beer koozie (I always keep one in my back pocket because beer).
