Kinda liking the Lace Finger Burners. Anyone try them? I suppose I can just man up and get the Dirty Heshers.... Both are up on my list. Hope you guys are having a good time.
I've been wanting to try out some of the new Lace humbuckers, been considering dropping a pair in the Greco I got. You should come over sometime soon and jam out with that RD man. I got Mr. Grumpy in and I've got a new Atlas 612 inbound.
Nice! I'll definitely have to head over and jam! I heard the stock Custom VII pickups on the RD Standards are kinda crap, so hopefully I can make up my mind soon and replace them. My friend has Dirty Heshers and I love them but I just don't know if I want something so hot at the moment. That's why I was looking at the Finger Burners, I read they were in the same ballpark, just not as hot.

Aren't the Dirty Heshers a tuned version of the Nitro Hemi? Maybe a regular model of that or even just the Hemi would be a good choice. They also have those newer Big Block pickups, which are meant to be more vintage voiced, but I've heard some good tones with people using them for high gain tones.

Yeah, they are basically the same thing. Same output, at least. The Big Blocks kinda sounded more PAF style, which I'm not too much of a fan of. Many PAF's I've tried were quiet and dark. But I also just never pay attention to humbuckers anymore, that's why I'm having a hard time deciding. I think I might give the Finger Burners a try. I like big, punchy, aggressive sounding tone. So they should fit right in. I've also been playing some non driven clean stuff lately, so that's another reason I don't want something too hot.
I had a real love/hate relationship with my vintage Rat for years, it had a unique sound I loved but I could never get it to work quite how I wanted with bass. I tried out a lot of boutique modded Rats and non of them dethroned the vintage one until I got a Volt Thrower. Nick managed to keep the core tone, while making it way more flexible and useful than any other modded Rat I tried.
You do need some dunwich. I need more. I'm so stoked on the hm2. Still getting it dialed in to perfection, but I've had two practices of playing and tweaking it and it just keeps getting better. I'm pretty close to having struck a balance that gives me a good clean tone. I'm using for our show tomorrow anyway cause we're not going to be playing clean parts at that one anyway. Such a great pedal though. It's a mean one.
