Anyway Drone music is awesome. It's hard to make drone-y music that isn't "watch me watch my instruments make one or two sounds", though. I think my success rate is about 30% with that.
heyyyyyyyyyyy. alive as BUTTS. DOSEY DOSE.

i love listening to droney stuff, but how do y'all write long awesome evolving parts and then not let micro-ADD tendencies kick in and and hectic beats or faster noises or yah that stuff?
That's literally the worst thing about creating the raw materials for this stuff (since I record a bunch and then fuck with the recording after the fact to get it to sound "how I want"). When you're making it, live, there's an overwhelming tendency to say "ok, this has gone on long enough, time to twist a knob". Then you listen to the playback and think "why on earth did I twist that knob I've fucking ruined everything."

So now when I get whatever setup rolling into something I can see a next step for, I go make some tea or coffee or something, then come back and then twist the knob. That way you get 7-8 (or 20) minutes of proper raw material before you can "improve it" with the impatience factor rather than a 2-3 minute texture that's great followed by 4-5 minutes of things that are "not right" for it.

hee. shush. i am SHY.

I BLUSH.

(missed y'all too)

band stuff was hectic then slow as butts now, trying to get a thing going (probably just recordings, i am really not into playing live right now) with The GrrL, married life has been deliciously time consuming.

Ben every thought of getting a board with handles? Or you probably use a bad or case anyway. I was just thinking maybe that would make it easier to carry a bigger board if you ever went back to one. Didn't you have a custom board? Or am I crazy? Great stuff as always though!

muurrrrrr. i have a little tiny custom board for my second'er. it's just a Pickle Pie B and a Zoom B3 with a preamp and psu underneath. then i had dooder (i forget his name/company? the guy that built Jean's Monstro Boards?) do me up a fancy version of a PT Pro, but there was a miscommunication somewhere and it came out different spec'd than i expected. probably my fault.

jia. i need cases/bags. i use Mono's. because PIMP.

it's just that at a show i have the keys bag with the small board and a 49 keyboard, main board, bass bag, laptop backpack, then 4 12's worth of speakers and the 2 space rack with the power amp. going from a PT Pro that i weighed at 60 lbs (the weight sucks but the huge awkwardness is worse) to about 30 lbs in a much more manageable size..... HELPFUL.

also, when i'm shuffling stuff back from practice, i want to at least grab the laptop, bass and main board. sometimes i just don't want to fuck with moving a Pro so i leave my main writing loots not at home. not smart.
