Final Fantasy 13:

My least favorite game in recent memory, and by far the worst final fantasy (though I never played X-2 )
I don't know where to even start...just bad. But I'm done :yay:

Like: -I really enjoyed the leveling system (hated the sphere grid in X, but this one worked really well), and the paradigm system (but not the battle system itself, too much cruise control).

Dislike: -The plot was a joke and often took narrative leaps. The last boss was also a joke (in both character design and strategy)
-The level design got really irritating: walk down a narrow straight/slighty curved road and fight everything on the way, rinse, repeat for 60 hours.
-No towns/exploration/quests = not an rpg (the repetitive headhuner notorious monster quests late in the game don't count).
-Summon system: I didn't find the summons all that useful besides to fill up my HP. Also, since you can only summon 1 Eidolen depending who you are controlling, I had to use Odin 95% of the time

I've been playing a lot of older shmups. I 1cc'd the first four stages of Aero Fighters 2/Sonic Wings 2 today. :animal:

Not really excited about anything that's coming out except new BlazBlue in July.

Thought it's about time I hit this thread up...

I don't think i've enjoyed a Final Fantasy for it's story, game play or feel since 8... 9 was Decent enough but someone saved over my game when I was about an hour from finishing and i've never wanted to look at it again... X I felt was too tweeny marketed and lacked emotion and then I just gave up... I was really hoping they'd start picking up again soon but about the only thing I have to hold out hope for is a true to original remake of Final Fantasty 7 (which i've just replayed again, never gets old :joy: ) but that'll probably never happen or end up getting changed too much.

Same goes for Resident Evil... after Code Veronica X and the Gamecube remake/ Zero... Resident Evil 4? It's just not resident Evil... no zombies, no survival aspect (weird guys that flash you and try and sell you stuff) if they'd put a different face on the main character and called it something else then i'd be like sweet (I did like it i'll admit, especially the overhead controls, haven't tried 5 yet) but it's like a different game, not a survival horror anymore, if they could develop them as two different game series that'd be sweet... anyone got any suggestions for modern Survival Horror games I could look into? (Got a PS3, i'd even consider back tracking to PS1 or 2 for something good) I was thinking of checking out Siren: Blood Curse and even though it got bad reviews Silent Hill: Homecoming (cause I do love a good bit of Silent Hill) I played Dead Space, was good, if a little repetetive at times.

Anyone play The Darkness aswell? Thought that was awesome, really hoping they put out a second one... looking forward to Fallout New Vegas too, hoping that'll be more like One & Two with some of the original design team back on, not that Three was bad.

Other than that... i'm going back to my NES and looking for PS-1 Games to pick up that I missed out on the first time round.

lets not mention the stupid ass trophies.
"ok you wanna get some trophies? DO. EVERY. DAMN. THING."

I didn't even finish it, I'm right before the last boss and have everyone powered up but just don't care nearly enough to do it.
I'm waiting on FFVXIII with high hopes

My little son has become a fan of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, so I've been playing that a lot lately after a long break. It still rules. I must admit that seeing he is only three, I tend to play a rather family version with no vehicular homicide, pimping or cop killing. Mainly just roaming around in various vehicles of his choosing. "Daaaad, I don't like that car! I want a notorbike!"

But when he leaves the room, I go bronco.

Scruffie nailed it.

and the trophies

Time to move on...FF14 beta opens next week.
I played the shit out of FFXI for a few years, and from what I saw towards the end (and from what I hear they carried over) they really fixed things up and made it more "casual" friendly
...though hopefully still kinda hardcore. FFXI was a challenge, WoW was kiddie stuff imo.

I knew a guy who said
"11 is so fuckin tedious its like...
whenever you do anything on WoW it's like someone gave you a cookie,
whenever you do anything on 11 it feels like you solved world hunger...."

I just spent a good while playing Mortal Kombat II. Even though I totally suck, it's still fun as all hell.

Oh, and FFIII (really FFVI) is still totally amazing after 16 years.

yessssss

Also, I just thought that someone should make an insanely gain-heavy distortion pedal and call it "Metal Gear."

I wouldn't say Fallout 3 was terrible... it had nothing on the first two but atleast it held my attention for a while if it was a tad tedious at times.

Anyone else got any opinion on Siren? I seemed to read that it wasn't too bad.

Bring us good news on XIV Gunner!
