Here's something to tide everyone over till we (I) get our shit together and start making it available.
We are lucky to have people want to record us live a lot. I used two shows almost exactly a year apart along with an unfinished flier for the background. I'm pretty stoked how it came out. Audio is from track six off the album.

KT66 dudes, tell me about them. I retubed my Soldano a while back and the 6L6 I put in there are way better than the 5881 that were in there before. I got more headroom, the highs aren't nearly as harsh and the low end kinda blooms out a little bit more. Just wondering how the KT66 will compare. Its getting close to time to retube the Matamp so I figured I might get a set while I'm ordering some new EL34L for the Matamp to save shipping.

I put KT66's in my jet city, which had 6L6's...so would yield similar result as your i think. what i found, was mainly that the harsh highs disappeared and the low mids became a little more pronounced. The amp just sounded a lot nicer and thicker. On clean it became more pleasant to the ear, as it took the edge off the high strings...and with dirt it sounded a bit thicker and less tight.

i much preferred the KT66's...the other thing to qualify my comment...the 6L6 that came with the amp were of the cheaper variety, whereas the Kt66 was a pair of gold lions...so tube quality could have had something to do with it too.

Thats what I was thinking and was hoping it would be. I've been looking at some and I've read some reviews that the JJKT66 is just a 6L6 in KT66 glass so I'm not sure what kind I should go for. All of the ones I've looked at are about double what a quad of 6L6 will be. I don't know why I've been looking them up all morning because my truck shit the bed and it's gonna cost about 3 grand to fix and that will put a hold on my gear buying for a while. Which really sucks because I'll probably end up putting my Matamp up for sale to help cover getting it fixed.

Well, I'm gonna do all I can to get the money without selling it, but if I do I'd rather my Doom Room brothers get first dibs on it instead of someone else. I've got a few buddies that are always hitting me up about selling some of my guns so a few of those will go first before the Matamp.

Yea I would go that route because I can always get more guns. there are no special attachments to them. I hope that'll get all you need for your truck. Sucks so much that happened.

that really sucks Conk...i hope you get the money you need from guns. It would be a shame to sell the Matamp.

in guitar trade news, i declined the ric trade for my SG...i just have too many guitars, and they are not getting used, so if I get the ric it will just be another one thats not being used. which got me thinking...i could sell the a couple of guitars and be very happy with whats left. the money could then be used for something i tried today.

I went to a music shop and tried out the Thunderverb 200...i thought i keep gassing for it, i may as well try the damn thing. At first i have to admit i was not impressed at all...there was no body or low end to the sound, very tinny and fizzy. Then i looked at the back of the amp and the cab, and realised the guy had plugged the amp into some split stereo input on the cab, so I switched it to the mono input...and BANG! the tone was massive. Channel A is a great clean and nice EQ, the gain can easily get high gain enough and sounds pretty thick. Channel B i struggled with fizzyness, and the shape control was really hard to dial in. Then i worked out less is more...the shape has really exaggerated tones, so keeping it at around 12 o'clock, or about 11 to my taste (brings in more mids) was the better setting, and the gain at about 3 o'clock removed the fizz but maintained the same amount of gain.

The best thing was, the guys at the shop were into what i was playing and my guitar...and the guy helping me out came around at the end, and we chatted for a bit, and he just got me to play while he messed with the controls, especially the volume...little by little he turned it up, until we had it cranked for about 30s. This thing when it gets loud sounds amazing, there's a point where you hear and feel when the power tubes kick in. Its like a punch in the gut...the kind where we looked at each other we both had smiles on our faces!

the other cool thing, on the back panel it says what tubes are in the amp, and for power tubes it says 6550's or KT88's...i know which ones i'd put in.

Anyway...I didn't buy it...but I really want it. I just gotta work out what I sell to cover the cost. Couple of guitars or my Marshall...all of which are collecting dust, since over the last 6 months i've definitely become attached to 2 or 3 guitars and the Matamp.

I feel this vibe entirely. I'm currently sitting on four guitars and I only use one of them right now. I put new pickups in my Toronado but I just bought the USA Professional Telecaster (humbucker in the bridge, blasphemy, I know) because I like how teles play. So now I feel like I want to sell everything that isn't that and then find an MIA Telecaster with standard bridge because I do love that single coil here and there.

Just figured I'd wait until after christmas to try and sell all this stuff.

And with the left over money from the sale of three guitars and the purchase of one.... AMPS AND CABS, obv.
