It's pretty nice. The low input has great cleans and the high input sounds just like my 2204 when it had 6ca7s in it. I traded my Esquire for it and a Boneshaker. The Boneshaker rules too, I just have no use for it in my setup.

I've never heard a Model T do sparkling cleans, but I prefer to have "dirty cleans" anyway. My buddy Zach has a second gen and was the first person I've ever seen use one live and sound good (in fact, it sounds killer). I think he just slams the front with an OCD. You can hear it here -

Abrams are pretty tight. Didn't know he used a Gen 2. I played with it at home yesterday and when I put the mids switch in the middle (I think its 1.5k) I could get it to sound similar to an HM2 with the mids on 10. Backed them down a bit and the amp would clean up more. I liked the mids switch to be on 750hz though. It gets really throaty and pretty much nails Buried at Sea's Migration tone. Cleans are dirty, but even they clean up with the rolling the volume knob on my guitar down. I like the Matamp, but I'm happy with this even though I feel like a total fucking hipster now. Definitely wouldn't ever catch me paying these prices for one though.

We used 2 condensers, an MXL 990 and AT2020. We kept them close together to eliminate phase cancelling, and turned them to face different directions to catch more of the room. I also have a MXL 991, and our drummer has 2 other pencil mics that escape me at the moment. In addition to the obligatory Shure mics.

I am really falling in love with my Butcher and am using it exclusively for Terrasone. Pairing it with a T must be godly.

Yeah, I imagine it would sound awesome together. After jamming this morning at the house though I doubt I'll gig with a dual rig. This Model T is loud as fuck and once I hit 3.5 or 4 on the master volume it blooms out into the perfect tone. Adding another amp on top of that will pretty much drown everyone else out I'm sure. We'll see though. I'm gonna try it just to see how it sounds.
I also found that I like 6550 over KT88. I popped the 6550s that originally came with it and rebiased it and it sounds amazing. That being said I didn't try setting the bias a litttle colder on the the KT88 though so that could have been why I didn't like them.

Dual rig is not always the answer to the greatest tone. I've gone back and forth and have been pretty into one head for a while. There's no one size fits all answer, particularly when playing with another guitarist, or a band context in general. And model t's are loud as fuck. I like being able to cook the tubes a little more these days with a single head myself.
I also think I might like 6550's a little more than kt88's, but my comparison isn't very accurate. I'm using fancy expensive 6550's and the only kt88's I've ever used were cheap jj's, and I haven't ever liked any jj's I've used much.
Also, if I remember correctly, it's not a huge operation to mod a 2nd gen model t to first gen specs and everyone seems to universally like the first gen better. Have you considered it? It's possibly a rare case where modding the amp might not trash the value.
