Haven't had a board together in about 2 months, but I had a surprise gig with a new project this past weekend & decided to put this board together. I actually haven't taken it apart yet because it's pretty freakin' functional and has some absolutely crazy sounds to be made.
Fairfield Accountant --> ss/bs Pretty Years (8-step program to converts Exp signal into CV & control the Pretty Years' filter) --> ss/bs No Memory --> Ct5 --> Echo Degrader --> Proverb --> Happiness (Exp control over filter) --> Ditto X2
Heh heh, yeah it's surprisingly multifunctional.Eric! wrote:Pretty Years > mess of delay (n verb) > Happiness
YOU SIR, HAVE WON.
Nah, I just put it on top because I anticipated I would take it apart after our set/for ease of access to save time during setup. Also the space was available and the Phoenix is freakin' beautiful. When it was on my much more filled out board, the Phoenix lived underneath quite comfortably though.hbombgraphics wrote:yeah that's flipping killer,
walrus supply to big for underneath?

Still only using my ex-roommate's from time to time (when he's not gigging/recording). Mine's on the way back from Canadaland though, and I'll probably put it on the next iteration of my board.cherler wrote:Oh man, but where's the 856? That is a killer board though!
Do it!!! I don't think I have to explain why it'd be awesome with the Pretty Years (beyond just normal Exp control you can cycle thru discrete filter notches for some mind-bending sounds), but with the Ct5 I've found ways to do stuff like Steve Reich's 'Come Out' and 'It's Gon' Rain'. I'll give you a quick tech rundown to further fuel your GAS - rate on the 8-step is set pretty much as fast as it goes, all 8 steps engaged. Set 7 of the 8 sliders to be unity pitch & one to be off a little bit - the slippage is more pronounced with larger intervals, but it's also harder to get all the sliders at unity when you're using a smaller quantization interval. Arm 2 heads for playback on mode 3, create a loop, close your eyes, lay back, and experience the world slowly melt into chaos and reassemble right in front of you. Basically every time the 8-step hits the non-unity slider, head 1 will go slightly out of sync with head 2 (faster or slower depending on how you dial the slider in). The fast rate ensures you can barely hear it, even if you're doing the octaves & fifths quant setting. More sliders off = more pronounced desynchronization and a more noticeable pitch shift, which can be cool in its own regards though.monkeydancer wrote:You're making me really want an 8 step for my ct5 and Pretty Years...

Also in Mode 2 setting all the sliders to different positions and applying it to either the randomization or the length knobs will give you a delay with non-constant delay time, yet absolutely no pitch-bending artifacts, as long as you're holding down the soft switch.
Long story short, DO IT. BUY NOW!!!
