#1 just read an article about this woman, don't believe it's your wife.

#2 what the fuck.

thanks for the link d’arcy. had no idea who it was, am on the wrong continent to be much interested in the nyt. it was just a random nameless numbered photo that came up in google images when i was searching for amp pics last night. the line about twenty first pizza came into my head and made me laugh, so i thought i’d share it before going to bed. but very much like the story behind it, and i’m all for her. i like people who stick two fingers up at convention and expected behaviour and use their imagination to turn knockbacks into a drive to do something positive. too many people out there playing the victim card about their weight. and too many people knocking down people who are happy being fat, because it doesn’t fit in with their prejudices about weight.
she’s owning it and loving it so i’m all for her. happiness is its own beauty.

hey jwar, looks like i inadvertently smoked you out there. haven’t quoted you so you can backtrack and delete or amend if you wish.
on that general subject, i don’t have any problem at all with ‘over-average-weight’ women (‘fat’ if they are happy with that, i don’t see ‘fat’ as an insult per se unless it is used as an insult). hence my ‘fat is the new black, you skinny skanks!’ comment. i wish it wasn’t so stigmatised by culture and am all up for knocking that stigma out.

anyway, probably best to swap out the photo now it has turned out not to be a random holiday snap. on any other week this might have made the uk papers. alas we have a general election here in a week so our papers are back-to-back margin-to-margin empty promises. no inspiring stories at all.

It may be a very personal bias, but putting your health in danger to sell your image on the Internet... I don't know. Is a career in online porno video chat worth substantially increasing the risk of dying at a very young age?

I don't believe in killing yourself for money / work. I don't believe in the money in exchange for sex paradigm (it's beautiful because it's free, you silly!).

Aesthetic is another story. Saying that overweight people can be pretty and desirable is stating the obvious.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking as well.
Though in this sense it's obvious she's doing so and there's other professions it might not be as obvious in which are more lethal.
I guess there's a difference in putting yourself in lethal danger and working towards your death, then again smoking while there's a clear record of people with heart diseases and / or lung cancer in your family is probably way more hardcore.
There's only one thing certain in life and that's the fact you're going to die / make a transition into something someplace else.

maybe her feeling is that she would rather live forty years being true to herself and happy than a thousand years trying to live up to everyone else's expectations of her and being miserable? which i fully respect. as an adult she should have some understanding of how unbalanced diets can impact on long term health. but as with all other vices, that is a matter of personal choice.

i don't have any moral issues with prostitution or pornography either, on strict condition that it is the model or prostitute's own free choice (no pimps, coercion, etc).

it's always curious to me when certain elements within society imply that if someone has sex for money they are inevitably being exploited and victims. and yet, if that same person works a sixty hour week on a checkout for a dollar an hour with a five minute pee break and no sick pay, those same elements will consider that no exploitation is taking place and that person cannot be considered a victim. i have a feeling that religion may be involved in decoding society's attitude to that one and, as i have no religion, that argument entirely bounces off me.
i think it's entirely for the individual to make their own decisions about what they consider to be exploitation and what they don't. a personal choice issue again.

No bro! You misread me! I think that woman is disgusting and shameful!! I was wanting to make damn sure it wasn't your wife before saying so though! hahaha. I mean, seriously, I'm a health nut, but that aside, for fucks sake, take a little pride in your life.

People always make fucking excuses and have pity parties about being fat like that. It's a choice. End of story. There are ways to get better, but folks choose not to. I've personally helped many people loose a significant amount of weight by simple dietary changes.

That shit disgusts me in a way that you don't even want to know. It actually angers me too because it's the way most countries view Americans, regardless of if that woman is an American.

I'm bored as fuck here at work so I'm just running some numbers here...

She pulls in a staggering $140/wk, or just under $600/month. $20 a day. Twenty. Dollars. I'd love to be blithe and append "before taxes", but homegirl ain't pulling enough cheddar to have to pay Federal Income Tax.

At US minimum wage ($7.25/hr), that's a 19-ish hour work week. I'm guessing that shakin' yo thang (with a chicken wing?) on a webcam isn't a full-time job, so... couple hours a night? Sounds about right.

Okay, so... buck fourty a week. Let's assume that she eats the described "4 double cheeseburgers, curly fries and milkshake" for lunch every day, and the Meat Lover's with a 2-liter chaser for dinner. Mickey Deez double is a buck. Fries and a shake are another couple... let's call it - conservatively - $7 per day for lunch. The pizza's going to run you about the same... average about $8, so we're at $15/day for those two meals. Leaving a hot fiver to cover breakfast... and all her other expenses. $35 per week, to hit that 10,000-calorie-per-day goal. Plus sundries.

Good thing she lives at home, because that's not gonna cover rent... much less Internet access - a requirement to further her little enterprise.

Aspirations.

maybe she's just enjoying being happy for a while. i'm all for it. as long as people are happy i don't mind if they're not very ambitious.
i scrolled down and the next featured story is about a child tv star that killed himself. i suspect he wasn't very happy, for all his ambition.
