Do you etch your own or have Dan do it?
I guess I should have said I'll have that Red etched off of it - yeah, Dan W. I tried etching Expressionators when I first made them - nasty stuff.
codetocontra wrote:Hey Elevenstrings, what is your favorite pedal(s) to use with the Revolver DX? Impressive to see you have 3 versions, and I know they are all capable of doing different things. Obviously some overlap with the Possessed and Raptio, so how do you choose to use which one? I ask because I am thinking about getting another glitch source to go along with my DX, even considering another DX.
I guess it kind of depends on what mode(s) you are using on the DX? The Revolver is kind of the original glitch pedal and definitely the most versatile.
You can't really go wrong with two - in fact, you can change one of them to 1-second mode an get the same feel as the II (without the extra random modes).
The Possessed is good if you just want to totally random and uncontrollable glitches.
Raptio/Mandala kind of fall into the same functions Mode 1 on the DX. With Mandala giving you some Rainbow Machine/CT5 pitch stuff and the Raptio with some Freeze. Raptio is a little bit cleaner/hi-fi than the Mandala, but the Mandala has a random mode if the knob is fully CW.
Judder goes more LoFi and has some other unique stuff, but requires a lot of knob turning to change "modes". Also it's more Delay-like.
An old Revolver II has a couple of Random modes the DX doesn't.
Super Flutter has a cool whammy bar + glitch thing - but I think he stopped making them. It also has a cool choppy trem and tap tempo glitching.
I wouldn't buy an Ottobit Jr. for the stutter, but it's kind of of a multi-effect with a pitch/bit/filter sequencer, lp filter, bitcrusher, and stutter. Requires a MIDI controller (to save presets) and expression pedal to get the most out of it.
I wouldn't consider the Charlie Foxtrot or the csiDman.
As for best combo, I'm kind of mixing and matching a lot of them, so it really depends. Revolver + Revolver is a lot of fun and the Super Flutter post Revolver is definitely killer.

How is the Banananananaa Nirvananana?
It's a gritty/simplified PLL with a lot of knobs/functions removed and only the multiplier to change the pitch. It does have a pretty cool sequencer tacked onto it. I imagine it might get less play time when I get the Montreal Assembly Purpll. That said, it's all over an album I just finished (still being mastered) and has a neat 8-bit kind of sound and it's like having a PLL without having to mess with a 100 knobs.
