Hm-3 just came in today, and I scored the trio for cheap at a pawn shop.

My man! I just got a Trio too. I'm running mine straight into the amp and it's surprisingly fun and works better than expected. I run it this way as I want to be able to chain it through certain effects and filters.

How's the Kinkilin, btw? Did you get your issue resolved? Also, I'd like to request a 1 sentence review of the Velcrobot if you please.

The trio is cool! It will take some messing about to get the most out of it, and one of those controller switches, but so far I can see it sticking around for a while. Will make for an excellent practice tool, if nothing else. The drums and bass actually sound pretty good, and I didn't realize there were 2 onboard fx for every genre...bonus! I stuck it right at the end of my current chain, although I bet it would make a great noise source for knob twiddling too

Adam got ahold of me to get a replacement Kinkilin. I'm going to play with it some more in the meantime to get a better feel for it, and make sure it's not just me being dense. Sounds good though. I think a lot of people on here would like it.

I first tried it in the tourbox a while back, and knew I needed to get one eventually. Fast forward to Tom posting the sale on the IG-88 graphic one, and here we are (mine is obviously the Fialko graphic instead). You can get some really cool textures with it. Straight forward sticky but searing stuff, to completely gated blips. The filtered sounds from the bot knob when in mode two are just ...I think I may need to see about putting that on an expression jack. Did I mention, it stacks reallly well? Makes the VHDistortion I've been using (or anything) just that much nastier...In front of the boneshaker

Yeah, some of the Trio sounds are quite usable (aside from the occasional overplaying bass) and not as cheesy as I'd thought. I want to run the Trio into a Gen Loss for some Sparklehorse shenanigans. I was initially worried about having it before delay, but it just adds a cool dub flavor.

Glad you are getting a replacement Kinkilin. Mine is still on the way, but I'll report back if it has similar issues.

Dat Velcrobot review. That thing sounds amazing. Loving the orange knobs on yours, btw. That has to be my favorite version I've seen thus far. Really happy that it stacks well too. The amount of textures that you can squeeze out of Tom's various fuzzies is just insane.

That's one of the most understimated BOSS pedals. I really like it with my Stratocaster and the Marshall tube amp. It rocks at live gigs. And it's the best pedal I know for low-tuned stuff, if you're into that.

I here ya on the busy basslines...looks like they added a "simple bass" option on the trio+
That picture really doesn't do the velcrobot justice; I should post another one. I have been trying to streamline/change my board up recently and I think the bot will be replacing my fuzzbear for now.

Yea it's been great so far. Surprised it's not talked about more Sounds good with the bass too (or low tuned, like you said). Also, one of the only distortions that sounds good with all my guitars. I'm new to the strat game it it just sounds wayyy different with most stuff....I've been on a distortion kick lately and saw a few mentions of the hm3 being a slightly fuzzier darker sound compared to the hm2...After pricing the hm2, and seeing good reviews of the Earthbound Throat Locust, I think I'm going to spend the extra for the locust.

I like the HM-2 even more. It makes my Stratocaster SING like only a handful of other dirt pedals.
