How did you order Ruiner? The website appears to be down.

freal dog, why isnt this in the DIY thread
Why isn't baremountain's post above that one in the DIY thread?

Seriously, if you guys have a problem with the gear UG is posting in the gear acquisition thread, why not just tell on him like you did to that guy in that Chris Cornell thread?
I dunno, why bother having threads with themes? Let's just have one big thread that has everything in it. Sounds super pleasant.

This isn't a bad thing. This is like a Rosetta's stone. Ruiner, this should open up possibilities between your guitar and modular rig. Enjoy it!
 Yeah, I really like how this will bridge the two for me which is my main goal in it all anyways. I'm excited to run parallel signals having one going through my pedalboard into amp and recording that with a mic while another goes through this and other pedals direct into my interface and using my eurorack for CV control. I think i'll get some YUGE results from that. Also love that it can be any audio signal. I want to do the same routing when my Koma Field Kit gets here and see what interesting stuff I can get from that... and of course drum machines, vocal controlled synth, field recordings through it, etc etc. Should be a blast!

It was up earlier when I ordered. :idk:

yeah, you print out the "circuit board" and one side shows where the components go with the other side showing the lines that connect what to what. you just glue some cardboard inbetween and punch holes then populate, bend the legs of the components along the lines and solder them together. i guess it was an idea that came out of the early 4ms days, its inexpensive way to try out and share circuits.

Well, right there in the original post that started this thread "not everyone is going to start a thread on every pedal/other gear they get every time they get it, and.. it helps those that might have a question on a pedal/other gear but not want to start a thread but might want to know who has actually used one.

Honestly, as soon as I checked the thread and saw you posted "Damn" I was like, I don't know what this is but he bought it lol.
Then I watched it and was like "yeah this has Ruiner written all over it". I hope a lot of people get it (I don't know the price but assume it's expensive) cause I think it will shake things up for someone feeling stagnant in their gear.

Probably somewhat inspired by Serge paperface too.

I think 4ms started out as a co-op kinda thing under the name 3ms before some legal stuff. (according to trogotronic)

Agreed... the price is very expensive and will push most people away I think but there's a lot of possibilities here that were otherwise not available (that i know of). I could care less about making a pedal sound like a synth. I have synths for that. I DO like the idea of an actual synth in a pedal enclosure that has Audio Controlled Oscillators and as much CV control as this has. No matter what it'll be a hell of a lot of fun exploring and trying out new ideas.

i was reading something Peter Blasser wrote about why he decided to use paper circuits and he mentioned 4ms and how they were originally called commonsound...there is still an old commonsound website that links to 4ms. btw Jwar, here's an example of a paper circuit you would print out. As far as what you do with them concerning a box/housing it up to you. i've been using shipping boxes to get a feel for how to set them up...my plan is to build simple wooden enclosures so they can be portable but a lot of these particular circuits are meant to just have brass screws attached to the paper as you touch to play. I've seen people making etched boards from these too but I'm not that motivated haha.

I for one dig the paper circuits.

And if anyone would like to etch one into a board and build one (particularly the Lil Sidrassi) I would definitely exchange capital for product.

Just sayin'.

Ah, dang didn't know about commonsound. Thanks, UG! (WT could've been talking about the same era, just referring to it as 3ms :idk: seems like they had some pretty far reaching influence...I was also basically thinking that 4ms got their idea from the Serge one..which kinda was a diy thing except I think you had to do a visit for the circuit boards on you panel...then print your own face).

Yeah, the paper circuits stuff is a blast to see/check out when I've got a minute here and there.

Peter called em the commonsound linkserv, I searched and found this website but not sure how updated it's been.
http://www.commonsound.com/
I remember reading about 3ms too, man my Noise Swash is still a favorite when I'm fortunate enough to get it to cooperate haha.

Interesting to know that almost every circuit Peter's designed is available to find and print out in paper circuit format if you dig deep enough through his site. Some don't have the mirror image backside but the lines are right there on the front, you just have put in a little more effort and/or cross reference the schematics that he also has on the site. those have their own symbols to figure out too :whoa:

serge was just so great in every way. I've read that people working with/for him were able to keep a module for themselves for building x amount for the company. so awesome. also mail man came early cause this was sitting on the porch :!!!:
