I can imagine! The presets were what sold me on this one!

KORG OVD-1 Over Drive for 50 EUR including insured shipping! Take that, greedy Japanese eBay seller who regularly asks 650$ for his OVD-1! :success:
Those old Korg pedals rule! They're still pretty undervalued in the real world, it's just insane speculators inflating prices on the interweb. I bought the Comp from that series for $10 from GC a couple years back.

My parents decided to order me a Shallow Water for my birthday this year :') Should show up in early August.
Also incoming: proto PCBs for my CV box & a revision to my pitchy fuzzdelay from Oshpark and a fuckton of knobs & pots, 1/4" jacks, 3PDT stomps, & power jacks from Bitches Love My Switches

well..unexpected but one of these are onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn the way :!!!: though I still think I'm gonna pick up a synthesis technology e102 for some more advanced ASR action.

Quantimator is great. All Toppobrillo is awesome and one of the brighter spots in eurorack for me.

good to hear. yeah, their Sport Mod was one of my first euro modules :) I really like his adaptations on those Serge circuits....was THIS close to buying his kit
http://synthcube.com/cart/eurorack-diy- ... nel-2-pcbs
but then R*S released the Serge versions which wound up being far simpler and less expensive.

edit: actually probably still wind up buying one of those toppo kits haha

The Toppobrillo and Serge are totally different (I have the Toppobrillo and it's great!). Toppobrillo one is more like the buchla one expanded out with the added square wave (you can use and lfo and fold to create rhythmic gates). It's really nice to be able to have three separate folders, voltage control over the stages, and a gate sequencer in one.

The Serge ones (two different ones) have three different stages each I think (like combos of distortion, folding, triangle to sine, etc). Toppobrillo guy said in a thread somewhere that the Serge one is done differently than his. I always wanted a Serge one. I think the stg/Haible one is on the same path as the Serge...just kind of implemented a bit different (and without the two other stages).

Sport Mod is one of my most used modules (ramoage and furthrrr too).

I have the Toppobrillo/greyscale 281 kit....it's pretty terrible the way greyscale did the panel. The offboard wiring and connectors we're terribly thought out. The other pcb panel kit from think is much much better (I think they make a triple wave folder one too).

The guy that programmed quantimator is the guy behind microbe with the equation composer and meta seq (which I love).

Good stuff.

right. i've built two of the Serge VCM and two of the TWS, they are all incredible. Especially the middle section of the VCM which seems the toppo is most similar to, but its obviously got its own thing going on. i've read the toppo sounds close to the Serge TWS, but others say it sounds more like the middle section of the VCM? i know both of those sound awesome and do interesting things to waveforms, so can't go wrong :)

It's probably like ring mod. The actual process of folding is probably pretty standard, but what goes in and how you prep it is the real difference (which is where I think the Serge probably shines). Folding requires tons of gain and it folds at the clipping point.

The Toppobrillo is weird because when you top out the bias stages, you get really no voltage control, but you can up one channel and keep the other two low and voltage control those to kind of get a mixed timbre...or lfo all three to go back and forth. I use it more for CV than audio though.

The most professional, unique, filled with character device I have acquired yet...once you start turning knobs and flipping switches you get hooked, and get the feeling your playing something that is living, with its organic repeating calls, to how the controls interact with each other, plus the enclosure feels like it could survive dooms day...I am highly impressed and consider Curtis now to be one of the best builders out there and a sage possessed by a wondrous forest spirit.

THANK YOU!

Wow, thanks for the kind words!

I like the switch caps, color coding, what a great idea!

Have you hit it with a synth yet? I don't think you can push it too hard (and repair's free if you break something).

CHEERS

Yup that's an awesome crustacean! And seconded on the synth. Thing is phenomenal!

Agree that Curtis is among the top builders/designers out there.

These new finishes are awesome.

just enjoying its voice/textures for right now, plugged in a diddly bow after I read that^ and found a dope fuzz setting and in other settings the crustacean played along beautifully Image

going to take a family photo of all the dronesynth/harshnoise devices tonight, and have a major jam session.
