Yes, Ring Thing rocks. I have it programmed to do more abstract sounds and hope I can integrate it in interesting ways in the band sound. I have it before the fuzz, so it can create a lot of mayhem.

The tape delay and the DI to the far right are not in the signal chain for guitar but are used for vocals with an Audix T-50 impedance transformer. Speaking of: I'd like to add distortion to my vocals. I love how the vocals in The Dead Weather all sound like run through a cranked guitar amp. Any idea how to do it? A simple overdrive or distortion pedal before the tape delay doesn't work. Instant feedback, of course. :idk:

or use an XLR to 1/4” adapter from the XLR out? in my experience gear with 1/8” jacks that are probably mounted on circuit board tend to fail because stresses on the cord crack the board. my 0.02. i know these exist in some sense because many microphones have an XLR connector in the body and a XLR-to-1/4" adapter cord.

i went over photos of all four boards in their current configurations thinking about what i'd change if i was to change something. all i could come up with was:

--a replacement Distortion+...mine is from 1978, has been used a LOT, and probably needs some components refreshed. i could try this myself if i was feeling gutsy
--if i get a Stomping Stones Haxan for the Eno Bassy Fuzz Effect, it would kick the Buzzaround off which in turn might replace the Marshall Guv'nor Plus off the Normie Board
--the Fjord Fuzz MIME reverb isn't optimal...it makes loud POPs when switched and there's a noticeable volume jump when engaged. i should write to the FF people and see if there's any way around those problems short of somehow muting before it's engaged.
--i want to add a second Cioks expander module to the main board...the EMMA is currently running off the tuner's power out port, and i want to be able to run AC and DC ancillary devices along with it, specifically the SMMH and the EHX Black finger which requires 12V AC.

i'm thinking that if i could get a SILENT momentary kill switch placed before the loop board i could use it to knock out the plethora of pops and clicks that many of the boxes emit when toggled. is there some wise idea on how to eliminate those noises without having to rewire boxes? this is far beyond my level of competency.

in the spirit of the season, it strikes me how incredibly lucky i've been to be able to cull the thousands of pedals in the broader market down to a group that i genuinely love. well, maybe i don't love the MIME reverb that much.

emailed Fjord about the MIME questions and hope something comes of it. i can work around the problems if i have to, but i'd rather solve them.

You could go down the rabbit hole of using a effects switcher. :D

Something like this might help, but it won't eliminate all kinds of pops.

i thought of that, but the switching required for the main board and FEB would be 1. huge 2. complicated and 3. expensive.

i’ll have to investigate the DC Filter. where would it go in a signal chain?

Just wired this up to try out a bigger configuration. Will likely change and I'll be back here again soon with an update. Been rocking a 8-9 pedal chain to try out my collection, but now I want to eventually add my Laowiz Bath Salts and have all my favorite pitch/delay/verb/modulation at my feet. Stuck between a rock and a hard place because I love my pedals so much but also became better acquainted running simpler chains to keep my playing/writing creative. Seeing what shakes out.

Notes:

Deviltail distortion is mid boosted to all hell and never fails to cut through. Super Tri-fuzz still doing the sometimes-oscillating wall of fuzz with synthy decay. Evil Filter is set as a low pass filter-gain boost for the Dude Incredible Pre-amp.

Light Pedal is a test position, its really hard to set it and forget it without being in a project. Dialing in the gate/tone/drive is delicate pending on the amp so may play, take off, and add on once I figure out my main speaker cranker.

Trying Bifet Boost as a beginning of chain pickup booster/tamer since my Ovation Preacher is low gain as hell and my Fender guitars are notttt.

Oddest happening lately is being drawn to the Devi Ever DF. With high pitched oscillation and combining with flanger+pitch shift it makes for some dark cyberpunk psychedelic lead guitar goodies.

interesting...i played in a band with a guy who played a Preacher and it seemed about comparable to a regular Strat output-wise.

How's the Space Bender? I remember noticing it when it came out but I seem to remember that it might have been cool in ways that defy ready explanation. (And now I'm making that your problem . . . )

Sick board! Seeing the PS-2 reminds of that shootout video you made with the PS-3 a few years back. That sent me down this Boss rabbit hole I've been going down for the last few years. Definitly a good thing so thank you!
