Snagged a maxed out MPC2000 classic dirt cheap on eBay. Stoked.

For the Enzo. Got this in white because I'm probably going to repaint the Enzo and this thing (base white = less work when repainting). Gold is just not my color. :idk:

Yeah, I really really need that thing to get here, because I got this today and there are simply too many sounds and options in here for it not to have presets.

I actually like the gold color more than expected. It's very purdy.

Yeah, I think so. At least for the time being. The lens on my camera started acting up and I got a new computer that for whatever reason makes the editing software bug out. I just can't be bothered when there are so many frustrating elements.

Other than Rock and Roll Vintage accidentally sending a floor model and the chassis being éffing hüge, I'm quite satisfied with my purchase. The gain range and texture is comparable to the first 55% of what a Rat can provide, and its EQ sliders and dynamics control provide multitudes of additional shaping. It's more of a graphic overdrive than a fuzz, though is quite amp-like and responsive to playing nuances (even moreso with the right balance of dynamics and sustain settings). I currently have 500k scooped with 1k boosted and a semi V curve going. It delivers tight hard rock chug for days and quirky chirpy crunch when boosting my amp's gain channel. The ability to utlize its EQ independently of overdrive is a definite bonus.

I wish they had put the damn fuzz on/off on a footswitch with the reissue.

1. Hopefully a Bakvendt will be on the way this week :)

2. I've traded an OBNE Procession (V1) and a bit of cash for a Keeley Caverns (V2) which should be in the post on Tuesday.

3. I'm trying to decide whether to buy a forum member's fuzz pedal, but haven't quite decided yet ;)

I'm back! I took a forum break for some months. Health issues are bad. :erm:

A while ago a guy in England repaired a KORG SD-200 analog delay for me and he sent a Pearl Octaver on to me:

And this was my recent purchase (the fat pedal only - the others are for size comparison only):

This is the ultra-rare Keio "Synthesizer Traveler" from 1973. Keio Electronic Laboratories was the original name of KORG (Keio Organ).

The so-called "Traveler" is a tone filter that was already built into the first Keio organ prototype in 1970. The first KORG synthesizer generation did also have the Traveler filter system (my awesome KORG 800dv has two low-pass-filters and two high-pass-filters that sound like a dream!). In this case it's a low-pass-filter that can be combined with the fuzz. It produces cool wah sounds, especially with a good dirt pedal after it (the fuzz is first in the chain). The "Singing" mode is an oscillating sound that can also be combined with the fuzz, but not with the filter. It sounds pretty much like a Theremin. The knobs control the volume of each mode and the "Peak" knob controls the filter resonance.

Overall it's a great sounding early pedal. There aren't many of these around today and I doubt that Keio produced them in large numbers. I'm absolutely happy that I'm able to finally try one out for myself.

BTW: the French pedal maker Jaques did a limited clone years ago, called "Singing Geisha".

Tomorrow could be either hugely exciting, or massively anticlimactic ;)

So, a little while back, I had some $$ come in just at the same time I got a notification from one of the obscure pedal lists I'd put my name on. So I was reckless and I ended up with this:

It's a huge-ass enclosure... wider pic for scale:

A sort of reckless thing to buy as there's barely anything online about this thing. But after noodling for a while, I am pretty pleased with it. Gets me towards the Discreet Music/loops-that-fade sounds I heard in my head when I started making noodly ambient music.
