I am also reminded of the brief popularity of Tweed covered pedals with amp knobs.

Ended up ordering the Randy's Revenge and the Unpleasant Surprise too. So now those are on the way along with the Superego Plus and Marrakesh.

it'd be so fun to have a video setup as well, but holy shit i'm staying far away from that particular gear hole

I've already got a Black and White Video Scope and a BPMC Premium Cable, so I'm not exactly diving into video synth with no experience. I'll see what I can do with the Eyesy and Premium Cable, might end up listing the Video Scope

Bah !
Just when I thought I'd got on top of the whole buying pedals thing, someone puts something intriguing up for sale.
So on the way to me soon will be a Rebel Technology Owl.
It's an open source platform with a load of online patches, but not only that, you can program it yourself
That sounded too good to resist, but I thought I'd better listen to some demos first.
I only got about 3 seconds in (once he started playing, @1:00) before messaging the seller

I have one -from a fellow ILFer. I don't think there's a large user base here

It was cool when I got it, but there was kind of a lull in user contributed programs for a while; but then the eurorack version came out and a bunch of cool programs ensued. I think it highly under-rated, though not perfect. I haven't gotten around to trying any programs myself.

I may never get round to creating anything myself, but if you can store 40 presets onboard and only half of them are fun, it has to be a bargain.
If not, I've already got someone asking for first refusal.

I wanted one of those Owl pedals for so long, and never ended up getting one

I was completely unaware of their existence until yesterday, tomorrow I should have one on my board.
There seem to be plenty of patches to try if I dislike what's already on there, but it might be a while before I've tried everything with everything else I have !

The Owl arrived, and a very quick play suggests it'll be a lot of fun - I managed to swap between patches, but as things stand I don't know;
what patches are on it
how many patches are on it
what order they're in
what the knobs do for each patch
. . . so it's going to be a little while before I understand it, but I shall consider that part of its charm

I wanted an OWL awhile back but wasn't sure if it was worth it. I'd love to hear your findings later and if you enjoy it.
