Yeah, I was surprised by that as well. It's probably 4-6 pieces of it, but still pretty nice. Well, I guess time will tell if it's nice, but I'm pretty stoked on it.

are they no longer basswood?
edit: seems like the new ones are made of a few different things. poplar, nato (?). guess it doesn't matter too much.

ha, yeah, and asking Fender's lawyers to respond to a request to define "pine" might be difficult....

I mean pine is in no way hard to source nor expensive so I dont think it is barely pine. tbh a smart business move to bring back the vintage mojo wood that they stopped using cause it was too soft. probably isnt a problem with modern finishes though

true, and yet....
Agathis, for instance, commonly used in budget guitars a while back, including, at least, the FMIC-owned DeArmond, and I think Squire too (along with a boatload of other budget guitars), is frequently referred to as "Kauri pine" or just plain old pine, and is nothing like pine by species or inherent qualities, being more like a poor man's mahogany in weight and common resonant frequency, and is, most importantly, readily sourcible in proximity to the manufacturing facilities Squire is using these days, so....
I mean, it's not like these companies have a history of using obfuscating names to make it seem like the wood being used is basically the same as the "classics" in electric guitar making...is it?
I personally prefer truthfulness, and sometimes I enjoy the properties of a cheap-ass wood, like paulownia fr'instance.
Regardless, Squires these days are generally a steal and basically sound like their upmarket Fender cousins, so rock on, I say.

Just got a pair of Vic Firth/Dave Weckl signature drumsticks. They are made of hickory. I have no idea who the guy is but I like the sticks, just experimenting with different ones to see what suits me best.
Also got an 11" Zildjian K Custom Hybrid splash recently, sounds beautiful.

Refund got processed for the the whole No Moon deal so I should be ordering my MBD2 some time next week. Super excited to buy it after that I will need to figure out which delay I want and I should be set a while.
Now its on to new bass gas - The 300.00 music man I have is stellar for the price (I mean I traded my mom my Nintendo switch for the bass lol) but the action is super high / set up like crap. I am going to change strings next week and and try my best to adjust it - to see if it plays any better.
Right now I got three basses I am looking at that have sounds that I am looking for - A Cort GB34GIG, a Ibanez SR2400 and a Sandberg California TM4 (lol)
Best in the middle is the Ibanez, but the GB34 (dont like the blue but I can manage) looks killer for its options / price. I have owned a Cort before way back in the day and it was a cool bass then. The SR2400 looks all the part but I hate that the 9vt battery is in the middle of the body on the back.
That Sandberg tho

looks / is sexy AF but if I end up getting one, I will be done for gear for 2021 and I still have a few things I want (like the essential shit, keep buying rad pedals instead

)

I have a Cort action V dlx and it is a stellar instrument for the money.
And I am also lusting after a sandberg at the moment... my local dealer actually had one that I barely missed, but in hindsight it was better for financial reasons...
This is my dream config... matte black with matching headstock, rosewood fretboard and chrome hardware. If it ever is in stock again at my dealer, I'm probably gonna go for it... but that will not happen until next year probably (according to the sales guy sandberg is behind on orders currently)

I thought about asking if I could be talked out of this, but that didn't really work last time, so I just ordered it to save time.
It'll no doubt be here in a week or so (as UK Customs can be a bit hit and miss when it comes to time taken to process), which should give me time to sort out where to put . . .
an 856 for zellersasn

JUST LOOK AT THE SEXY MF GAT DAMN!!!
dumb ass question but do they put fret dot makrers on top of the neck? I love the black necks but with dots / bars i feel I would be completely lost (that and you know too much gear shopp / not enough studying)
That cort is looking better and better but the baby blue ..... maybe if i had someone refinish it for me.

yep, they have the fret markings on top of the neck. If you order new, you can choose your inlays tho, so either dots or block inlay.

Got a good deal on one of these preamp pedals. I've never owned a preamp pedal, but since having sold my amp, I'm chasing a decent clean tone for silent playing and recording. Got close with the C.A.B. M Plus, hoping to nail it by adding in the Le Clean.

Neat, let us know what you think. I almost got one of that companies things when I was looking for a tube od pedal [ended up with a Mesa] but was unsure of the build.

I have the C.A.B. M and even just with that I think I’m getting some pretty good, usable sounds. I’ll update when I’ve had a chance to play through it.
