The Poly-800 doesn't look too bad in this picture, but it is in fact quite beat-up. The joystick isn't in place and doesn't work and a few keys are almost broken. But so far it works and the price was okay (100 EUR) compared to the crazy prices that these units go for these days. It will receive some love and care and then it will be technically as good as new again. :yay:
Nice, Inge from Rancho Relaxo once told me he used this one quite alot so I've been curious to try it but the programing always scared me. I hate when things are not intuitive, kills the flow.

In other news I decided to loosen the truss rod a bit and slightly touched the bridge height on my GT microbass and all of a sudden it plays so much better. Theres alot less fret buzz when landing close to a fret. The tension is really smooth so even if the action is not super low it is really easy to play. Now, the strings are still sticky but I am expecting flats (made by GT and Labella) next week. This should fix this problem and hopefully it will otherwise remain as much easy to play. :)

Haha, maybe I'll finally fix my poly 800 at the same time (had it for 20 years!). Pepe told me fix it years ago. I think I already repaired the joystick board...still gotta get new keys.

Poly800 programming ain't bad at all. You get quick at it.

Red sound Darkstar and that era of shift keys was a mess.

I had a black key Poly800 for awhile. It was a pretty cool synth and definitely not too complicated to program. It was also disgusting inside with lots of battery acid.

I have been in cranky mood since Wednesday and I have not paid off the last two purchases yet .... but seeing Jero's custom finishes for the next batch of Virus pedals is REALLY making me want to pull the trigger now.

After that I have to clock some into this board and see what is working / not working.

since the ROYGBIV DEVOE and the 1-foot TRS cable arrived, the front-end board is done. yippie! (Abbie Hoffman preferably). having been foiled in my attempt to snag a White Spider in B/S/T  i took some of those funds and ordered the second Ditto x2 looper for the loop board (90 bucks!) and a Saturnworks 1x4 buffered splitter which gives me the extra input i'll need if i add the 3d looper. all i need now is a Boss LM-2 (NOT THE BASS VERSION!) to keep input levels in check and the actual board. this went much faster than i expected. it would be done next week if Becky's birthday wasn't this weekend...a boy has to have some sense of priorities, and i can get along much better without a limiter than without her. but really, there's no urgency involved...it's not like i have three months of solo loop-a-ramas booked for the spring. i'm getting close to having most of the effects i really want, though there's a batch of $300+ units it will take a while to save for.

Obsessive-compulsively tweaked to obsessive-compulsively match the number of syllables on each line in order to obsessive-compulsively make a slight improvement in the cadence. :thumb:

YMMV, of course.

My Earthquaker Devices gas has increased in exciting and unexpected ways.
Image

So how did I get here? Well, I've had the Aqueduct for a while after getting it out of curiosity during launch day. I always liked it and the sounds it makes, so I told myself I'd try more of their stuff soon to see if I like any of it.

Fast forward to Christmas, I get both the Rainbow Machine and the Hoof for Christmas, and its like someone really hit the fucking GAS pedal. The Rainbow Machine for being capable of truly strange things, is really one of the most lush chorus sounds I've ever heard, plus theres the funny button in case I wanna make washing machine noises! The Hoof also really surprised me. I thought I was over Muff sounds until I got this, but man. It just sounds RIGHT.

Cut to yesterday. I traded some gear as you do, and scored the Tentacle, Organizer and Afterneath. Not too bad for a Saturday.

So how does that shit sound?

Tentacle: I had posted on here a while ago about getting one of these, but never got around to it until now. I've always lusted for something that could do the subduded Octavio sounds that pops up during the later half of the Jimi Hendrix song "So What?". Its a really cool sound that I thought would be cool to recontextualize in a totally different song. But I didn't want another fuzz necessarily. My Eville Rat has a Green Ringer style octave circuit which sounds fucking great (as all Mask Audio stuff does), but I wanted that smaller. I KNOW, I could have just DIY'd a Green Ringer Circuit, whatever im lazy. Plus I like the graphic and this was a trade so, I didn't pay for it. :excellent:

But this does exactly what I wanted it to do. Clean Octavia sounds that can get super ring moddy depending on what you do, turns every drive pedal next to it into an octave fuzz. Its the shit. I spent so much time with it the other day just making noises because of how fun it was. Unironically, this might be one of my favorite pedals ever. But its only been a day, so lets wait for the honeymoon to be over first.

Organizer: Oddly enough I never really had an interest in getting this pedal before. Though it was one of the more uninspiring pedals for me from EQD apart from the Arpanoid, and thats purely because I didn't know what the fuck I would do with ether of them as far as useable sounds. But it was there as trade bait, so I said fuck it and nabbed it. It was only afterwards did I find out that IDLES use the damn thing all over the new album, so of course I dialed in those settings and thats really all she wrote. I think I dialed out some of the dry signal just a little bit but otherwise its the big noise you here on "Grounds" and "Mr. Motivator". I'll have to experiment more with it, cause I do feel like im missing some of its potential.

Afterneath: Now this one is a pedal that I've been gasing for ever since I saws PGS ANdy play "Sour Times" with it for a demo. the sort of rattle, dulcimer sound that it can do was something I really wanted to try and make noise with. Oddly enough, I have it set pretty pedestrian right now, with it acting as a sort of psuedo reverse verb for ambient washes. This, like the Organizer, will take some time to get used to. (also worth noting the Afterneath is now after the delay)

So yea, I guess at this point, ill probably get a plumes to replace the super overdrive, maybe an avalanche run to replace the mxr (just needs tap tempo), and idk if they have anything that can make the narrow sounds the q zone can do that I use for solos, but I'll get it if that exists. Cause I might as well go all EQD at least once. Maybe they'll make a tuner at some point too cause :picard:

I've wanted an Organizer and Afterneath for the longest time. Really the only reason I never grabbed them is because I'm quite happy with my pedalboard and I don't actually know where I'd put them. I didn't realize Idles used the Organizer on their latest release, but I do know they're a big fan of the Data Corruptor; they use that thing everywhere.

You could probably cop your solo sounds from a Spatial Delivery.

Also, I am a huge fan of the Dispatch Master. I would honestly rather have two of them in stereo that an Avalanche Run, but that wouldn't have tap tempo like the Avalanche Run.

You really can't go wrong with EQD, they just make solid pedals
