Re: Gasalcoholics anonymous? whoever said this was a help group?
For much of this year, I have been selling off anything I don't really need. I'm down to 3 guitars, a bass, a modeler and a couple other pedals, and a Quilter head.
For some reason, even though I generally only have sneering derision for the company, I bought a used Teenage Engineering EP-1320 (Medieval sampler). It hasn't arrived yet, and I wouldn't have paid full price (it was $207 on eBay).
I do a lot of recording with frame drums and other similar percussion, so I am mainly interested in the percussion samples in this thing, and it might be handy for live performance. The last live solo show I did, I used a Behringer RD6, which is ok, but the sampler should be more versatile, especially if I load it with more samples of my own.

I'm thinking of buying a Bass Q Crybaby and use it for guitar. I have a Wah, it's a Zakk Wylde Signature Crybaby and I modded it almost excessively. It sounds great. But I'm thinking of putting together a second pedalboard for a recording project and for home use and I like that automatic bypass switching very much. Also the wide frequency range and darker voice appeals to me. I've read somewhere it's based on an MXR envelope filter effect so it's maybe not utterly silly to own two wah pedals...

I’ve had one since…. 98… (I also have mini one) they are based on the Mxr autowah, they sound good on guitar and other things… they do not have a on off switch, they are spring loaded to always return to heel (where the on/off sensor is, so you cannot do cocked wah sounds, I’ve always liked the thingsZork wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 6:12 pm I'm thinking of buying a Bass Q Crybaby and use it for guitar. Intrigued to see what you think about it. I was also weirdly tempted by this one. Maybe a new years purchase.Phosphene Audio wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2024 7:31 am For much of this year, I have been selling off anything I don't really need. I wanted a drum machine type device anyway, hence the RD-6. That just isn't that interesting, though, and I just sold it on eBay. I know I could have gotten any number of samplers, but some of the built in percussion on this made it appealing. I am less likely to use any of the melodic built in sounds.
I generally have the opinion that the TA stuff is overpriced for what it is, but the used price on this got me to take a chance.

Here’s a blast from the boutique pedal past I picked up for nothing. j Everman Fuzzdrive.

No idea about the circuit, has two germ transistors and a dozen parts. Fairly low gain but serious output, two internal trim pots. The bias on the outside is actually an input trim?
Love me a dirty germ boost. Haven’t tried it goosing my matamp yet (of of my favourite tones ever was a creepy fingers doomidrive into that). But having fun running it into other dirt pedals to give them a fuzzy flavour.

Re: Gasalcoholics anonymous? whoever said this was a help group?
it occurred to me that i might be able to get the kind of cloud reverb i’m looking for out of the Keeley Realizer, particularly its over-the-top take on the Yamaha Soft Focus patch. i don’t feel like messing with it right now, but maybe i’ll do that in the morning. there might be something on the Muza 900 as well. i don’t feel like fucking with the rack mount stuff right now.
i haven’t really vibed with any of the reverbs other folks suggested. some are really good, but not even the Cloudburst sounds right to me. the only thing i dug was the Mooer A7 i mentioned above. it would be awfully nice if the Realizer works, but it’s reassuring that the best candidate so far is also the cheapest. of course, if a stupidly priced Big Sky shows up after New Year’s i’ll just do that.

A few days ago I bought these three KORG nu:tekt pedal kits. They were sold with a huge discount directly at the German KORG Shop. The one on top is a Christmas gift, the other two as a reimbursement for the repair of a Roland Juno-60 synthesizer that I did for a friend (I refused to take money for it, although a nice sum was offered to me).

i found a Blue Sky v1 on Marketplace for $170. woop woop. and i had $130 of balance on PayPal so in real world terms it hardly cost anything.

The harmonic distortion gives a bit of TWA Triskelion vibes.
The overdrives supposedly give some "amp-like squish".
Curious to hear your thoughts/reactions/reflections.

I accidentally just won the auction for what most of YouTube calls “the most useless pedal of all time,” aka the Boss EH-2 Enhancer. I am determined to make it do something cool.
