btw i made an offer (nowhere near the listing price) on that crazy reverb listing and it was accepted. no regrets... i am beyond excited and will most def be contributing a video to the webiverse

This is exciting! I can't wait to hear how you integrate it into your music. It is definitely a tabletop/sit crosslegged & naked in front of it all day kind of thing.
I got a chance to plug the MIDI out of my Organelle (which basically just sends note changes) into the 856 for a little while last night and I discovered some very odd things. When the pedal is powered, even if it's not on or recording, MIDI notes will trigger sound playback. That is, if the Organelle (sound source) has no output, and the 856 is off, it will still play notes when you send it MIDI signal. I can't tell exactly what's going on because I didn't check it with a single note and/or tuner, but it appears that key presses trigger note playback at intervals corresponding to pitches on the keyboard (-1 octave at Low C, +1 octave at high C), however I may be wrong. Another guy I follow on Instagram (@thereisonlyfuzz) has a few videos of himself playing with MIDI if anyone is interested in watching some weirdness.
Scott, do you have any word when the MIDI documentation will be released? I had an idea over the weekend to create a patch on the Organelle to act as a MIDI controller & I wanna get to working on that soon. The functions unavailable on the pedal but available through MIDI are just the repetitions, intervals of repeats (Free/Quant/Skip functions), and P2/P3 transformations on Note 1, correct? Or are there other transformations unavailable in N1/Bar position?
Basically my idea is to have the knobs on the Organelle correspond to the knobs for the missing features, and the keyboard (which is 1 key short) would be a more human-readable version of the pitch knob. My first question then becomes, however, does current switch position on the 856 have any bearing upon the MIDI signal? If I were to map a Delta knob to try and change the interval between repetitions for Note set 1, would it also work as a delta knob for the other settings if the switch was in, say, the N2 position? Or does each note set and knob have its own dedicated channel, or is there an option to approach it from either direction?
Ideally I would have the knobs on the organelle be dedicated to the missing Note set 1 functions, since they are unavailable on the machine itself, and have the keyboard send nothing but cc changes to the pitch knob (meaning the Note/Pitch switch settings on the 856 would still dictate which pitch/repeat is being altered). I hope that's clear to you, because it's still only vaguely clear to me.

I make t-shirts, patches, koozies, buttons, CDs, sometimes tapes, and eventually i'll start working on pedals again. DM me for pricing!
