We haven’t seen any official word from Sequential on this yet, but on Jan 5, 2021, the company has filed to trademark ‘OB-X’ for use with ‘Musical instruments, namely, keyboards; music synthesizers’.

Man, I do not envy anyone trying to sell guitars. You have to "innovate" to seem new, but you can't really go too far from the tried and true, because guitarists (on the whole) utterly despise innovation and only desire transparent overdrive blues-rock solos.

I would settle for a Vo Wond II, but that may also involve 10 years.

dubkitty wrote:Fender has the advantage of having had a number of designs that are objectively great but died in the marketplace--the Starcaster, the Lead series, the Coronado, Duo Sonics--that they can revive. both Fender and Gibson have eaten it when trying to do stuff outside their particular box, but Gibson's attempts have been pretty painful. the last "innovative" guitars they did which i find palatable were the L5S and L6S.
To be fair to everyone buying most of those Fenders when they were new, a lot of the originals are junk. Built poorly, sloppy assembly, boat anchor kind of things. The late 90s/early 2000s were just an era when non-mainstream models from the 70s could be had for like $500 and some musician chanced upon one before getting a big radio single. Gibson Marauders are pretty junky. They were $250 before 'Fat Lip' was on every rock station and justifiably so. Starcasters were completely forgotten before a few people found them cheap and they showed up in photos. A current production Chinese Starcaster is built substantially better than a 70s one.

Way Huge’s tease leaked early:

“Atreides Analog Weirding Module.” Just by the sliders I’m guessing something like an envelope-following microsynth-ish box.
Why go for naming it after an idiocy in the stupidest version of Dune, I couldn’t tell you.

Here's the copy from a cached website (truetone):
The Way Huge Atreides Analog Weirding Module offers a cornucopia of organic synth-like tones. Inspired by a vintage mini synth keyboard, this consciousness-awakening device produces a single effect with many layers that can be altered as needed with each of its several sliders. Kicking the footswitch generates an explosion of growly sub-octave, expressive envelope, swooshing phase, and gnarly fuzz sounds.
Ascend to new heights and look out upon a new world of musical greatness with the Atreides Analog Weirding Module as your guide.
• Inspired by a vintage mini synth pedal
• A single effect with many layers
• Sub, envelope, fuzz, and phase sounds
• Sliders adjust each parameter
• Internal switch sets sub at 1 or 2 octaves down
• Internal pot adjusts phaser feedback
• Limited edition
