Another one bites the dust. Weird that they don't post any actual pics and use the mock-up from before it was finalized.
ugh yeah i've been lucky to have largely been outside of the upcharging flipper world but this stuff bums me out... i know once someone buys the pedal they can do whatever they want with it and it's completely their right but for fuck's sake that is a lazy listing... wrong picture, "custom" whatever that means and then upcharging both the pedal AND the shipping while not even including the vinyl or shirt lol. i certainly could have charged $400 from the start for this package and felt ok about myself but i always want to have things be as affordable as possible... also, sure there are some settings that are "low level compared to other pedals" but there are also like 500 other settings that are loud as fuck.

rant over.

that will be basically the same as the frequency pot on the pedal so you won't get new sounds from it. as for dedicated CV pedals, make sure they output using a TS jack, rather than TRS but i'm pretty sure the dwarfcraft happiness (i think there is a video of this happening) and some of the copilot CV pedals would be good to go.

Thanks. That explains what the cv input does so I know what to expect.

I'll have to play around with the pedal some more, it does a lot and makes some crazy sounds I just need to figure out if it is going to be useful to me.

I think once I play it through my full rig a bit louder I'll get a better idea of what it can do.

Looks like the ehx expression pedal would work well, you can plug a regular guitar cable in and it turns into a cv out with 0-5 volt range.

I'd theorize that that the person selling this could be someone who hasn't even received theirs yet and is simply flipping it to flip it. Otherwise, they are stupid for posting without a real picture. Wish they had an offer button. :) LOL

I've been using the env out from a dwarfcraft arf with a TRS cable with no problems :D

I love how the PY functions as a gnarly distortion or can be used as a noise box. reminds me of the dirty doper all the time. was channeling sounds of the universe last night

That Instagram clip is way too short, but sounds amazing! :!!!:

Has anybody messed around with the Pretty Years, Dirty Doper and Divine Hammer all at the same time? :snax:

Pretty Doper Hammer? Dirty Divine Years?

ah well there you have it. TRS no problem i guess... i just don't know if it will be ok in *all* circumstances which is why i recommend a TS.
sounds rad by the way! what's the chain?

Got back from being outta town to a Pretty Years at my desk at work. Played it for a while last night, and I gotta say – this thing is unbelievable. I only used the notch filter and played for an hour straight before I knew what happened. Had to actively put my guitar down because it was getting late.

Brian, I salute your ambition to undertake something like this. Your commitment to pushing sonic boundaries with your pedals is inspiring. The originality, the attention to detail and the commitment to actually producing and finishing something like this is truly commendable. Really stoked to be able to own a pedal like this. This Pretty Years really is in a league of its own.

Fuck. You guys are getting me so pumped. Mine is on its way to my post office, which means that I will (theoretically) get to play it tomorrow when I don't have school...on my birthday....life is cool sometimes.

Couldn't sleep last night, so I ran Volca Beats》Pretty Years》 Roland DEP-5 cycling through various verbs. I wish I had been able to record, now I'm just a tease- but omg PY is going to be on every drum track on my next recording effort. I've just never been able to jive with a pedal this much. It brings much peace and happiness.

So I know it shouldn't bug me, but it does, so I suppose I'm writing this post as a way to sort of defend or explain myself. I'm the first "flipper" of the Pretty Years as referenced to below:

:snax:
Recently, I adopted a puppy, whom the shelter told me was perfectly healthy. It turns out he wasn't. And him being sick got my other dog sick. Long story short, lots of emergency vet bills. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a very good adult, so when bad financial things happen to me, at times I have to sell gear as a sort of last resort. I know that as a 29 year old, I shouldn't be living month to month, but that's the way it is and I had to take care of the situation.

I listed a ton of gear for sale on reverb to help recoup the costs of the vet bills. Two of those pedals were a No Memory and a brand new Pretty Years. Both some of the coolest pedals I've ever been fortunate enough to play. I listed the Pretty Years originally for $300, and the No Memory for $500. After I saw the response on this thread, I pulled both the listings. I pulled them for two reasons. I felt like I was being made to be some horribly shady guy just looking to profit off of Brian's work, and I also hoped that I could find another way to be able to pay the bills without getting rid of these two pedals. Turns out I couldn't. Being an adult sucks sometimes.

I relisted the pedals on reverb at lower prices. $275 for the Pretty Years and $400 for the No Memory. I figured with the Pretty Years that $275 was a very reasonable price for an in demand, limited run pedal, and that accounting for shipping and paypal/reverb fees, I'd pretty much break even on what I bought it for. As far as the pricing on the No Memory, I haven't seen one sold, so I didn't really know what to ask for it. There is one on reverb right now (or last I checked anyway) going for $599 right now, so I figured I'd try $500. I also priced it this way at first because really didn't want to sell this pedal. I knew that if I sold it, I'd never likely be able to own one again, so that played into my price. I guess I just figured that if someone wanted it bad enough and was willing to pay that price, it would really help me out. I didn't want to end up getting rid of a pedal I loved and still have to figure out what else to sell to make up the rest of what I needed. As with all of my listings, people are free to make me an offer.

I'm sorry if this looked shady at all, and I'm sorry Brian if I bummed you out. I love your pedals, and Cymbals is one of my absolute favorite bands. I have a custom Fuck, Mini, and TAFM, and those are really special pedals to me, and some of the absolute last gear I'd ever sell. In fact, I made the tough decision to sell the Pretty Years and No Memory because I love those custom finish pedals so much, and didn't want to lose them. And yeah, it hurts to have to sell those sweet ass pedals, but maybe someday I'll be able to pick up another Pretty Years (because it is a really fucking rad pedal), and I'll be first in line for the No Memory v2.

Dude, you'd be surprised to learn how many *stable adults* are one tragedy away from financial ruin.
It's the majority of them. Locally, globally. COL is brutal. Vet bills are a difficult discussion to have.
You sound like a decent person, trying to do right for an animal who needs help. Don't ruin yourself in the process if your own options for help are bleek. Part of being an adult is having to make hard decisions and live with the consequences. Maybe the hardest part...

As for the pedal sales-
Getting back what you paid is perfectly acceptable. Especially in your case.
And the NO MEMORY you should be free to name your price afaic. Or rather sell to the highest bidder...

I would've been more impressed if Zach had thrown some Velcro on the Pretty Years. :idk:
all good. he's flipping for a fair price and there are plenty of folks who want one so it works out.
I don't think you have to worry about Brian being pissed at/disappointed in you. It looks more like he was pissed at the dude that posted his for $425 and didn't even bother putting the right graphics pic up, much less an actual pic of the pedal.
'sall good from what I can see.
