MrNovember wrote:Yeah final plan is to have 4 Tirana's. I love their simplicity and Xaoc stuff in general is amazing. I used to own 2 Moskwa's, but they were a little too big for what they offered. The Tirana's on the other hand, look perfect for the size, especially since they can be linked. I might try to build an expansion to switch which ones are linked together (if that's possible)
Tirana is great. If it had quantized outs (or the option for quantized outs) it'd probably be my second favorite sequencer.

murf. why. WHY is the Poti 3 hp?
i remember someone offered a 2hp version on Muffs a bit ago, can't find it now. it's supposed to be an easy build, i'm just completely useless at all that.
but it would be NEAT to have a Poti in rack again. i'm super in love with the Batums.
It makes module arranging a fucking pain. I always end up with 1 extra HP. Shit never looks clean.

Poti is just a couple switches isn't it? I've never seen the back of it, but couldn't you just drill a couple holes in a 2hp or 4hp blank and exchange the panel?

I haven't looked at it that long because it's usually chained to Batumi but I'm sure it's possible, just not something I would do.
Also, after a few more shipments to and from Strymon (including replacing a case) they sent me their unreleased AA.1 module (attenuator and i/o) and it's so conveniently small. No knobs but it does a static +18db for your input and a -18db for your output. Looks like TRS stereo in (one jack) but L/R out (two jacks).

neat! i love those attenuator cables.... can't find them in stock anywhere. would LOVE to have some.
yah. because my case is designed to be closed patchable, the module rows are a bit recessed from the wood panels, so end of row is not as reachable as a skiff or Mantis.
Poti - yurp. i've seen 2hp diy versions, so i know it can fit. wannnnnt.
although i do have a 2Hp Mix coming in for my last 2 hp.
SHOOTOUT.

Plaits is at the post office! 2 hours left of work. ThenI have to run several errands before friends come over tonight. So, I might get a chance to plug it in tonight? Maybe? Hopefully

*IF* you had the need anywhere else in your system this 4hp doodad from Ladik could cover Poti plus three more switches...

yur. that IS a cool option. but. i don't really need any more switches i think? mebbe if i had two Batumis. which. NOT A BAD IDEA.
lol. and i only really have 2 hp room right now.
...... thinking about cancelling my second Plaits and getting a pair of Tiranas.

ah shit. never mind. forgot they're unquantized. i don't have a quantizer in my system, don't want to deal with adding one right now.

Snapshot of the patch I built up today. Lead is Spectrum (weird wavform + saw sub)-> Three Sisters -> Optomix -> DLD, Bass is Cursus Iteritas (walsh) -> Optomix -> DLD (though the delay isn't very obvious). Spectrum is sequenced by SQ-1 in random mode, Cursus is quantized by the Penrose accepting CV from Maths, which is doing the envelopes for each voices. Three Sisters is receiving some cut off modulation from maths and the sawtooth wave from the Spectrum, which also has some . Reverse on the Spectrum delay line is trigger by the other delay's clock out. This is just a rough overview and wasn't necessarily the best sounds I got from the patch but I really love that Cursus bassline

That module can do a lot of sounds but it's so fucking fat for bass.

That bass is indeed filthy. I dig it!
Side note: idk if anyone noticed but the Noise Engineering products from NAMM are up for preorder, including MIMETIC DIGITALIS (mini-Rene).

hah! i had JUST sent a message to Danno at DetMod asking if i could drop my Next Batch order of Plaits and grab a Meme Doge.
i've always wanted a Rene, but hate the MN labeling and touch spots and button combo design and shizz.

So I kept exploing that patch and I found so many cool elements to play with. Having maths as my only modulation module had me sending mults and mixes of the same signal all over the patch, affecting signal strength and rise/fall amounts effects so much.
Also, I had been feeling like Three Sisters was kinda "meh" sounding recently, too clean & bubbly... But since I was running two spectrum waveforms through it I figured I could use a third to FM the filter cutoff... And so many sounds opened up. The resonance is so much more pleasing and variable with all the waveform outputs, and the anti-resonance seems more full, too. I always liked that it was described as a "spectral mixer" but now I feel like I'm cracking open how i thought that would sound.
I'm so happy that I've reconnected with all this stuff. I was seriously considering selling a bunch of it... But remembering there's so much to explore makes it exciting again.

So I managed to partially explore the first 3 modes of Plaits today in between errands and such. Holy shit it's amazing! I can't wait to dig into the rest of it
