The more I observe in politics, the more I believe that there needs to be an age cap for politicians.

All this shit about Sgt. Johnson destroys any hope that the next 3 years might be productive (or even remotely cordial) at any level.
When congressmen will go as far as to rope the families of recently deceased soldiers into controversies in order to win brownie points for getting a dig into the president, and the president responds by badmouthing those families and making stupid accusations, I can't see any way that the system of government can continue to function.

Not sure Congresswoman Wilson's really at fault here. Although, she certainly isn't helping calm the matter.

Either way, you've got to feel bad for Sgt. Johnson's family being dragged into this.

The fact that she decided to bring the whole thing up over a snippet of a phrase that she claims to have overheard even though she appears to have no idea what was said during the rest of the conversation, I'd say she's at fault to a notable degree.
I'll concede that it's possible one of the other family members prompted her to start the entire situation because she was in a better position to do so, but none of them have actually come out and said so, either.

Apparently, Trump was supposedly on speakerphone during the call. So, allegedly everyone in the car heard it.

It's the Republican civil war that's currently under way that has me concerned. If the Trump/Bannon faction wins, and they take over Congress, we are truly fucked.

But I guess it was inevitable. The GOP has been exploiting their rank and file for decades. They have drummed up cultural issues to get working class voters to vote against their own financial self-interests. Now that inherent self-conflict is starting to boil over.

I think it was just rumored, but, yeah, it's not that surprising.

As Lurker pointed out, stuff like Sen. Flake chosing not to run for re-election is more concerning.

Flake not running for reelection would be concerning if he was a vote against Trump's agenda. He hasn't been. Just look at the appointments. Gorsuch, every horrible cabinet pick, including Devos, Pruitt, and the Keebler Klansman he put at AG.

Just words, like McCain. Country First, Western Second.
