I'm not so sure. Presidents usually get their cabinet picks, even if they are controversial. Say what you want about McCain, he had the courage to kill the health care bill.
It's true that a lot of Republicans in Congress are behaving cowardly, but I do believe that enough of them believe in the institutions of government that there are certain lines they won't let Trump cross. I also think some of them are starting to be worn out by Trump's never-ending bumbling and childishness. But if Trump gets a Congress dominated by sycophants, he will be able to do anything he wants with impunity, like firing Bob Mueller. I really do think things could get much worse.
Hopefully all of this will inspire enough Democrats and Democratically inclined independents to turn out for the midterm elections next year to at least regain control of the Senate. That would put a real check on Trump's power, as opposed to the current opportunistic quasi-check.

I need someone to remake this shirt for me. It needs to say, "I may live in a world of dicks, but I began life in the Ginaverse." I'll wear it to all the protests and marches. Oh and please keep the Venezuelan flag. That has to stay.
