This is pretty much the only improvement over the current interface I can think of - the ability to edit out any missteps via MIDI and re-route my original audio loop through with a cleaned up performance would be killer for composing.
I don't store so much as set via midi and store that in the session.
Absolutely, midi out would be killer

Working on setting up my K-Mix to control the parameters that are unavailable/that have ranges beyond what the interface offers. It will only offer rough control of pitches, etc, but I aim to pitch things wayyyyy up & down, so harmoniousness is not my primary concern.
Also, did anyone else note the revised interface in the pics of the new boards? Looks like the interface of the new run might be less symmetrically but more sensibly laid out. Hooooray.

I'm under the impression that the boards posted are for a new product. Maybe I misunderstood. Similar layout of controls maybe but there's something with three stomps there as well. I guess I'm going to get an organelle since nothing else seems to have the flexibility to create patches like that easily. Never thought that would be the best solution but it does seem to be. I wish I could get a dumbed down version just for control, as I don't think I'm that big of a fan of the sounds that the unit produces. Oh well. Anyone know where to get the best deal on one??? Thanks!

You could also get something like the midi fighter twister. Or any number of the highly customizable small format midi controllers. Most have a software interface to load customizable setups these days.
The organelle is a great solution though

If you don't like the sound you can always learn some PureData basics and make your own

All sounds on the Organelle come from PureData patches, and your own comprehension and maybe the Organelle's processing power is the only ceiling there! Plus C&G has been pretty good about keeping new patches coming out each Friday (except over the holiday season).

So I know this isn't the place for this, but since Scott did post some new project PCBs.....PURPLL sounds fucking rad and I'm stoked.

In case anyone is curious to hear others implement the 856, I composed the core of this song on mine. I've been sitting on this tune for a minute but I just dropped it on a compilation some friends put out (along with another track I did using an Organelle & an SP-404 w original samples). I forgot to name it, so they just called it my working project title - y'all might get the reference

That is just beautiful. And hey, I was just in Dallas last week. Do you play out a lot? Seems like a fun city. Torchy's Tacos was great.
